Speaking of Jesus, Luke said, “…he went around doing good” (Acts 10:38). This past week our young people looked a lot like Jesus when they had “Work Camp ’08″ in the Childress community. This was not a fundraiser of any kind, but simply a ministry to people.
For five full days our youth gave up the comforts of home and worked all over town cleaning, raking, hauling off, painting and helping people in the community who needed a hand. Much of what they did was still “tornado clean up” from the storm last month. They slept each night in the building and then worked from sun up until sundown everyday. Twenty-three kids overall took part in the work camp, and I wanted to give them an “attaboy” today for a job well done. They were worn out by the end of the week, but they sure “went around doing good.”
I love our young people’s spirit, I love the leadership of our youth minister Nate and his wife Kristin, and I love being a part of a church that looks like Jesus. Here are a couple of pictures of work camp. You can see all of them by “clicking here” if you want.

It feels good to help others – I’m glad they’re learning to serve at a young age.
I hope I’ll never get over my experience of helping in Honduras and the time when I was in need after my storm and people came to help.
What a wonderful group of young people. The parents should be very proud of the Christ-like spirit shown through them. It really means a lot to have a great teen leader/wife who devote so much time. God bless them all.
I always loved being a part of such a ministry with our kids! Thanks for sharing this.
Cool!
