What I’m Thinking…

Augment: Our “Extreme Home Makeover” here in Childress is coming along nicely. Read about it here and here. This week we’re hoping the new electricity, plumbing & heat/air will all be done. The house is totally gutted and we’re ready to do something other than demolition. Soon we’ll be starting windows, roof and floors. Everyday someone calls or comes by and asks, “When can we do something?” I love how the community has surrounded this project and volunteered to help. We have been blessed to have professional plumbers, electricians, roofers, etc. who have donated their time and supplies to the Augment house. In fact yesterday, I met with Childress Lumber company to ask if they’d be willing to “help” us with the materials for the roof. I was just hoping they’d give us a discount on the materials we needed. Thirty minutes later, they called and said, “We’ll donate all of it!” Pretty sweet. Also the sweet lady that is to receive this house has been working with us the whole time. Not sure anyone could have found a better “recipient” for the first Augment house.

Kayla, Vickie (who'll be getting the house) and Marijon, all doing clean up around the Augment house.

Rangers Game: Lea asked me on Monday, “Don’t you think we need to go to a Rangers playoff game?” She’s not only cute, but she’s smart too. So now we’ve got tickets to Saturday’s game in Arlington. Yes!

Most Popular: I’m still amazed that this is my most popular post… ever! I have twice as many search engine hits for this post than anything I’ve done. Why do you think that is?

Ran Across this Story:  It is STILL absolutely, positively my favorite story EVER! I want to live what this little girl sings.

Honduras Jesus Banquet: It was Jesus who said in Luke 14:12-13, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, don’t invite your friends and family and relatives and rich neighbors… instead … when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.” I’m excited about this year’s Jesus Banquet that will take place at the dump in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This is the second annual Jesus Banquet. The date for the banquet is December 8th. The dump is a horrible place where people spend their days searching for things they can eat or sell. Our goal someday is to help get these poor people out of the dump because God never intended people and trash to go together. The good news today is that today Marc Tindall and his friends will be going to the dump to feed hungry people. While they won’t be having a banquet today, they will be feeding hungry people.

Have a blessed day…. Trey

Every day I read your blog and get excited over the projects you and yours are involved in. I’m even happy that you are going to get to go see the Rangers again.

  2. Greg England says:

Wish we lived closer to San Francisco or Atlanta! If the Braves are eliminated, I’ll be pulling for your Rangers.

Trey, It is fun to see what is happening in Childress, TX. Talked to R.A. today about the community of believers working together to re-build a Jesus house in your town. Reminded me of words that I heard lately ‘You don’t have to be my identical twin to be my brother’ . By the way, we are moving the Jesus Banquet to a place just outside the dump. We have decided that we if we don’t want to encourage kids to be in the dump, we won’t invite them to the annual banquet there. This will give us opportunity to serve at least 1,000 an amazing meal, share some gifts with the kids and this year, we will have a gift for the adults too. We will be making an announcement at the banquet that will be big news about a sustainable project that will let us offer employment to several of the ladies that work in the dump. Stay Tuned on this!

Lea IS smart…but her husband must have a short term memory…what happened to “Come home from China, and Lea and I will take you to a Rangers game”?! Uh-huh, that’s what I thought. You’re in trouble now 😉 Impressed that you got tickets this late!

Sure wish I could be at the Jesus Banquet! One day, I will be there right alongside you guys…

You didn’t get home soon enough, Kat. Regular season games are cheap and playoff games are NOT.

      Someday …. Honduras.

      • Katherine says:

Ha, I know…come on, we all know you are rolling in the dough! 😉 Yep, I was talking with Lea about how expensive the championship and World Series tickets will be (see the optimism-WILL be!) Exciting times to be a Rangers fan. Have fun!! They are just allowed to clinch on Saturday or else I will not get to go and that would be so sad!!

        • Katherine says:

If I would have known you were going, I would have actually paid for my own ticket. I am loving watching them win, but I am soooooooo sad thinking about not getting to watch them play if we do sweep, after waiting all year to go to a game. That absolutely stinks!!

        • Trey Morgan says:

I sure wish I would have grabbed an extra ticket when I ordered. I thought Saturday’s game was the one you already had a ticket for.

  5. Maggie Beth says:

As a photographer I am struck by the look of the little boy.

The dirt in his hair and his eyebrows makes his hair appear “greyish” – add the look on his face and that beautiful little boy of 3 or 4 literally looks like an eldery man.

    Wow………we are spoiled!

(PS) — it is always in the eyes…..when looking at photographs stare deeply into the subjects eyes — real happiness can not be hidden – nor can soul-deep sadness – Always. Always in the eyes…….

    • Trey Morgan says:

Maggie, that little boy has the most photogenic face. I’ve taken a lot of pictures of him, all at different times, and his expression never changes.

  • good list. Don't forget Nickelback, OJ, ISIS and beer-throwing Blue Jay fans.
  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
