We’re Giving Away Another House … Augment Project #2

A year and a half ago we completed our first Augment Project (see it here). It was an old condemned house that we purchased very cheap and rebuilt for a lady in Childress who needed one. It was an awesome project that the whole community of Childress helped with.

In March of last year, we began our second house that we’ve called Augment Project #2. This house is MUCH bigger in size than the first because it will be given to a family of 6 that is currently living in a two bedroom rental. Here’s a few pictures to get you caught up…

Here’s the front of the house on day 1, March of 2011. The house had to be cleaned out and totally gutted.

After everything is gutted we’re down to bare floors and bare walls. Mike Henderson and John Henderson are discussing, “Where do we start first?”

The house needed a new roof. A good turn out to help was essential. Matt, (third from the left) and his wife Leah, will be getting the home. Matt has done a great job putting in a LOT of sweat equity on this home.

Johnny Nail-Gun is hard at work.

Some very kind people volunteered to put up a privacy fence for their back yard.

Janet Word, principal at Childress Elementary School, helped paint. We’ve had people from all walks of life helping on this house … doctors, CEO’s, business owners, young, old, big and small … we’ve worked them all.

This was taken within the last few weeks. The new kitchen going in.

A pretty recent picture of the new front porch.

I took this yesterday. You can see the new waterlines going in.  The outside is almost done.

Our goal date on this house is to be totally finished and have an open house ceremony and walk through on March 18th … one year after the project began. The Augment Project has been a blessing to everyone involved.

What an awesome blessing for that family! I wish we had something like that here in Denver. I see so many broken down homes that I personally would love to have but coudn’t afford. I’m on disabiity and paying over half my monthly income in rent. Considering I’m raising 2 preteen boys and make too much money to qualify for pubic assistance, I know I’ll never see the dream of my own home come true. I’m so glad there are people in your area willing to help others in need.
