SATURDAY is the PALO DURO CANYON TRAIL RUN: I’m going this Saturday to Palo Duro Canyon for a 20k (12.5 mile) run. It’ll be a monster of a run because 99% of it will be on dirt trails and up and down hills. Last time I ran this race it was only 9 miles, but it ran like it was much more. Now they’ve added 3 more miles. I hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew.
Also, the last time I ran this race an Indian showed up. You know, an actual Indian with head-dress, moccasins, face paint and loin cloth (the whole outfit). It was like he just appeared from out of the past. I kept a sharp eye on him the first 100 yards and then he took off like a rabbit and left me like I was standing still. When the race was over and I was standing near the finish line, I looked up and saw him just coming in to finish a good 20 minutes after me. I never went around him, so I had to go and ask him, “What happened!” He said, “I got lost for an hour.” I SO wanted to say, “Dude, you’re an Indian, you’re not supposed to get lost,” but decided it would be better if I just kept my mouth shut.
SUNDAY IN AMARILLO: On Sunday I’m going to spend the day speaking for the Comanche Trails church. It’s the congregation that my Mom & Dad worship with. The Comanche Trail’s church is having a big Friend’s Day. If you’re in Amarillo (or close by), I hope you’ll stop by to see me Sunday.
Here are a few pictures from the canyon and last year’s trail run.

I’m going to do a 5K next Saturday. I’ve walked in one before but I’ve not run in one. I just don’t want to be last!
You’re the man. You’d probably win the whole thing if you’d quit eating nacho and sugary cereals! LOL. Next year, I wanna run in it with you!
Terri – You’ll do awesome. Two things will happen: 1) You’ll love it and want to do another. 2) You’ll be FAR from last place. Can’t wait to hear about it.
Doug – I’m holding you to it, brother.
You’re inspiring me Brother. I might have to push up my 5 miles. What a beautiful place to run. Good luck and enjoy the time with your folks.
Those are beautiful pictures, I believe I’ll just ride through Palo Duro though. More beautiful is you keeping in shape, hope you can do it. Most beautiful is friends and family day at Comanche Trail. Beautiful Christians serving and worshiping the Lord. We’ve invited several people. Anxious to see you and your beautiful family. Mom
Nice scenery.
Perhaps you should start taking ibuprofen now.
You know, just in case.
it will be a breeze for ya!
Godspeed to you! =) & watch out for rattlesnakes & armadillos!
His,
Maria
You just crumbled one more of the foundations of my world … a directionally challenged Indian!
Good luck on your run tomorrow; if an indian can get lost on a nine mile run I sure hope you don’t get lost on your 12.5 mile run! Maybe the indian will be there again this year!
Good Luck tomorrow. i will be praying for you on my early morning walk. Sharon aka Lovey
A Native American, lost for an hour and then pulling up 20 minutes after you…hmmm, have to do the math here.
Lovely pics.
What a great run. I would love to run this sort of terrain.
