THE DEVIL DOG

Our dog is old, tired, worn out and probably needs to go home to be with the Lord. For the most part, he doesn’t like kids, people or haircuts anymore. Thinking a change might be good for the old grouchy dog, I took Cocoa to a new groomer this past week for a much needed haircut. When I walked in the door the groomer’s first words were, “Aw, what a sweet little dog.” After two hours of fighting and wrestling him through the worst haircut I’ve ever seen, they called and said, “Your devil dog is ready. Please come pick him up.”

Poor Cocoa, he went from being a “sweet little dog,” to the “devil dog” in just two hours. Unfortunately they’re not telling me anything I didn’t already know.

I sure hope one day I don’t become a grouchy old man with a bad haircut, who everyone refers to as the “devil.”

I knew I was never a big fan of dogs, now I know why.

Awww … what a sweet little dog.

I am sure glad I’m a teacher and not a groomer! I’d much rather have your boys then your dog!! SCARY!

    Trey,
I think we all fear that “grouchy old man” syndrome. My haircuts are already bad!!! LOL! Less and less of that to mess with daily!

    Love ya Brother!

    Hey Trey –
Great story…tell Cocoa to hang in there, it will grow out before he knows it.

“I sure hope one day I don’t become a grouchy old man with a bad hair cut, who everyone refers to as the ‘devil.”

Unfortunately I believe this is a forgone conclusion for my senior years!

You know what they say… pets take after their owners.. You’ll be falling in that category not to long from now.. Zach

Emma – what a deal. I’d rather you take my boys and I’ll keep my dog. He actually minds much better. :)

On the not wanting to be a grouchy old man with a bad haircut, you and me both.

We had a dog for about 11 years that was sweet as could be around us and very protective of our daughter, but she was straight from hell around anyone else. The vet had AGGRESSIVE in bold letters, shaded in yellow on her file. I miss that dog.

So it’s true..dog’s take on the personality of their owners? Not Lea..she is an angel!!
We had the “pleasure” of having both granddogs here this weekend. Roxie, Shalane’s yorkie, actually was a lot of help to me. Since I have lost the hearing in my left ear (temporally, I hope), she told me everytime someone came to the door. She’s a hyper little dog. Jason brought Mae, corgi/black lab mix, on Saturday. She is so laid back! Yep, just like their owners!

  12. Adam Gonnerman says:

I’ve always figured two things about my aging process:

    1) I’ve always known I’d go bald.

    2) As grouchy as I was to start with, we can only hope I’ll mellow out with age.

  13. Clyde says:

I saw a movie called Devil Dog, the Hound from Hell once when I was a kid. But it was a Chow!

  14. Piper family says:

Trey – you make me laugh! And I agree with Emma – I’ll take your boys over your “Devil” dog any day!

  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
