CLICK HERE to see an absolutely amazing picture, taken by National Geographic, of the “Mothership Cloud” that built right over Childress, Texas on evening of June 15, 2008. The tornado did millions of dollars in damage and Childress was declared a national disaster area. A month later, the community is still cleaning up the mess. Here are a few pictures of the damage if you missed them here and here.

Now if that doesn’t portray God’s Glory I don’t know what does. Very cool picture, but very sad for Childress. In the north we are dealing with massive flooding (and the resulting mosquitos). It amazes me at how God Nature always wins against man.
And to think, you could have taken that picture if…wait…better you and your’s stayed inside.
that is an absolutely amazing picture. As crazy as I think tornado chaser are, sometimes we have to be thankful that someone is willing to sit outside and watch! But it also makes me glad I live in earthquake territory, because I don’t want to mess with anything that comes out of that cloud.
Magnificent example of God’s power. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Amazing. And such an oppornity for Childress to know His church throughthe help you all are giving!

I have seen some funnel clouds in the past, but never, ever saw anything as awesome as this cloud. There can be no doubt that destruction would follow. Thankful that your family survived “unharmed,” and you were able to be of assistance to others who were affected.
Whoa! I have seen clouds that have scared me before…but that one beats all of them! That one would have sent me running for sure.
I am glad that you and yours came thru safely. God is good and He will continue to use you thru this for His glory!
I seldom use the word “awesome” outside of a Guitar Center, but that is an awesome cloud!
Good gravy! That thing was huge.
Indeed a cool picture. Sorry for the damage it caused, though.
Even cooler: 357 at your first night of VBS! Wow!
