Great post. And good advice. Though I don't know many men who are able to simply refuse, remove the temptation, and run — not without honesty and accountability between themselves and other Godly men. I'm not downplaying the role of the Spirit's transformation in our lives, but God put us in communities for a purpose…

And being up front and honest with a transformed group of guys goes a long way in helping us do the things you've suggested. Being able to call a friend when you need prayers for strength, having other guys tell you what temptation areas you need to remove from your life, etc.

Interesting post Trey, its not always the woman who instigates things though. Amazing how many times I have been hit on by married men- just because of the whole single mother thing…..makes me want to run in the other direction too!

Trey I have to agree with many of the other post that are often left on your blog…Keep dealing with the "uncomfortable". These types of post make people open their eyes and take a harder look at their own behavior. Maybe had I been confronted with some of these issues in this way I would not have struggled and failed the way I did. Thanks Trey for the boldness to say the truth. Amazing that people who would never think of sleeping with a prositute would participate in porn. Isn't porn the same thing – paying people for sex? We must be willing to meet people where they are and be fearless in calling sin what it is…even if we risk making others "uncomfortable".

This is not an easy comment!!! Being a single man, the world is full of women claiming to be Godly women, but yet they always seem to find a way to make that sexual advance (I do to for that matter, can't blaim it all on the woman). I pray daily Paul's prayer to the Colossians "praying for and asking God to fill me with knowledge of his will through ALL spitirtual wisdomand understanding". Plus my newly intstituted no dating policy has helped tremendously. Helps me to clear my mind and get me whole. Thanks Trey!!!

Great article Trey-“preach on brother.”

The first part of verse 16 in Hebrews 12 says – See that no one is sexually immoral – and Eph 5:3 says- But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. (NIV)

The KJV says for the word “hint” – let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.

In the NIV there are 18 references in the New Testament warning against sexual immorality. This is very serious to God and our society hardly bats an eye about it, in fact it strongly encourages sexual immorality. I know it is something we as the body of Christ should pay close attention to.

I guess that's why we're supposed to "resist Satan" but "flee sexual immorality." When my teens say "why don't you trust me?" I always say, "I don't even trust ME in that situation!" As a person who failed in this area, I give a hearty amen to your point about discussing it. Attractions can fizzle if left unfed, but if you both admit to it, it almost always has to play out.
