Today, July 4th, my friend Sargent Jon James fights for my freedom in Iraq. Today is also Jon’s birthday.
Jon, my prayer is that you are able to get online today. Because I want you to know that although you’re a long way from home, today I think of you and today I thank you. Thanks for being my friend and thanks for being my hero. Today, as always, I pray God will keep you safe. Happy 4th of July and Happy Birthday, Jon.
I am a Christian husband and father, who moonlights as the minister for the church of Christ in Childress, Texas. My wife Lea and I have been married for 23 years. We are doing our best to raise our 4 boys, who are all growing up way too fast.

Hello, thanks for the encouragement to all military personnel. I’m currently stationed in germany and away from my family, i was led to your page through google because i came across your post on Friday, March 09, 2007, Which leads me to ask…how about a post for “things to show your wife you love her when you’re far away”. Just thought maybe, thanks again for recognizing all the soldiers who are overseas.

As for your thoughts on “things to show your wife you love her when you’re far away”… I’d write everyday, tell her how much you miss her, make her list of things you love about her.
