SANTA RUNS A 5K

Last night was Childress’ Jingle Bell 5k run. Thirty-eight people showed up to run. About a month ago, I told my friend Kirby that I thought it would be fun to run the race in a Santa suit. He told me if I’d do the Santa suit, he’d dress up like an elf.

The coolest part was during the run there were kids screaming as I ran by, “MOM, SANTA CLAUS JUST RAN BY OUR HOUSE!” I don’t know how many times I hollered “Merry Christmas” and “Ho Ho Ho,” but it was quite a few. One driver who didn’t yield to me and made me stop, made my naughty list. :)

It was a fun run that I didn’t take to serious when it came to how fast I finished. I do have a new appreciation for the Big Guy in the red suit that somehow delivers presents to everyone in the world’s hottest suit!

Here are a couple of pictures. You can find more info and pictures here and here.

(Pre-race) Kirby was the biggest elf anyone had ever seen.

(Post-race) Q, myself and Ryan. I was SO glad to take that beard off. I could finally breath!

Our Santa at the nursing home sweats buckets in his suit just walking around! Can’t imagine the dehydration and sweat weight loss when you are running in the suit!YIKES!

I think just the fact that you ran in the Santa suit is awesome. I loved the Santa capris. You’re the coolest preacher I know by leaps and bounds.

Mills – That may be the nicest thing anybody has ever said to me :)

I did a 5K myself that morning. It was called Black Friday shopping. Not as challenging as the year I did it eight months pregnant, but a good hard run nonetheless.

    Dear Santa,

Your elf is scaring me, I have been good so keep him away.

I really can’t express my excitement that you and Kirby dressed up. The race was supposed to be fun and a great way to raise money for a great cause…. I really appreciate all that you do… and I agree with Ryan Mills…you are the best….Childress and the world are lucky to have someone like you…steph

Steph … thanks for the brownie points. :) Made my day! Honestly, I looked okay, but Kirby ROCKED! The giant green elf was awesome.

  • it's still early. :)
  • no worries. Luke is a very popular gospel during the Christmas season. 😜 #BabyJesusStory
  • Mitch Moreland has a combined 1.6 WAR since the start of 2011 at a premium position (DH/1B). That position needs to produce.
  • definitely don't disagree with that. We will miss his glove. But he had such a quiet bat for someone at first base.
  • I only disliked him when he was at the plate.
