Not long ago while traveling in the car, we played a game to help pass the time. We tried to see how many spiritual applications we could make out of road signs we passed. We came up with a bunch. Here’s a few…
NO U-TURN: Jesus said in Luke 9:62, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” No U-Turns. Don’t let Satan make you believe that your pre-Christian days were really the “good ole-days.” Satan will say, (1 Peter 5:8) “bail out,” but Jesus says, “No U-Turns.”
REDUCE SPEED AHEAD: One of the most pressing problems battling our faith today is over-scheduling. I believe if Satan can’t make you sin, he’ll just make you busy … too busy. Even Jesus slowed down (Mark 6:31-32).
CAUTION, SHARP CURVES AHEAD: God never promised His children straight, easy or flat roads (James 1:2-3). So be prepared and rely on God when the sharp curves come.
DEAD END ROAD: Our world is full of dead end roads. Unfortunately, too many times we’ve taken one and end up far from our destination (God). Dead end roads look good at first and then leave you in big trouble. Dead end roads include things like alcoholism, pornography, abuse, adultery and many more.
BE PREPARED TO STOP: So many people go though life never prepared to stop. They know they’re going to die, but it won’t be anytime soon. They’ve made no preparation for the next life. Jesus talked about a man like that in Luke 12:13-20. God called the man a “fool” for not being prepared to stop. Are you ready?
There are other signs too. Those are just a few. What could you come up with for “Narrow Road” or “Keep Right” or “Construction Ahead” sign? Can you come up with any others?
