I haven’t said much about it because I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to pull it off, but I’m running the Oklahoma City Memorial marathon at the end of this month. I’ve been training with my friend Randy, and I told him if I got the long runs in I’d go do the marathon with him. I did a marathon back in 1999 and after throwing up every six steps for the final 4 miles, I vowed “never again.” Well, never say never. Randy and I did a 16 miler a few weeks back, and it wasn’t bad, but the 18-miler I did two weeks ago really kicked me in the teeth. This morning he and I leave for a 20 mile run. Sheesh … what was I thinking?

You will do well and fail…or fall and hopefully not puke either…
Tucker, Dobbs and I would be there too, but they can’t run that far. Otherwise you know that we would be there. We are just going to do the old fat man sprint through the buffet line.
Enjoyed meeting you and good luck with the run.
I saw you running this morning up “I” and read on his Facebook that Randy had carbed up last night! Way to go! I”m really excited about running in my first race! Yesterday I ran the longest I’ve ever gone…20 minutes straight…on the treadmill. YAY! I’m starting to understand the addiction now!
Run, Trey, Run! Hope you have a good run and an enjoyable weekend. The lady who works for us (former Marine officer, her husband is still active and going back to Middle East next month) is running some race tomorrow, along with her husband and three young children. She is very excited about it. I don’t get excited about running. Even the 20 years I was a basketball official, I never liked having to run to get in shape for the season.
just don’t puke on my shoes.. i will not like that at all!!! i know it is going to be fun! i cannot wait!
I’ve run a marathon… if you add up my lifelong cumulative running and have a very elastic definition of “running” that includes what some Texans might call a “mosey.”
I hope you and your buddy make it all the way and go for the “Trey-fecta.”
I will never complain (except to myself) when I run 6 miles again.
My hat’s off to you for even giving it a shot, Trey. The spirit is willing, but 30 minutes on the elliptical reminds me that it just ain’t happening.
You will do great…Just remember that you have a “Great cloud of witnesses cheering you on.”
Finished a little while ago. The wind blowing right down our throats the last made mile 18-20 pretty tough. We must have looked pretty rough at the end, because I think it was mile 19 that I noticed buzzards circling over our heads.
The guy in the picture? You really think running will make you become Chinese?
Does Trey know how to drive? It seems he runs everywhere!
I’d finally thought it was okay for you do this thing again, until I saw the picture today. You can’t go, I don’t think he looks Chinese.
Love you, Mom (Good luck, I walked fast to the dinner table today.)
Trey, you’ll be great! I can’t wait to see you there!
oh! and good job on the run today!
praying for you my friend!
Glad the buzzards didn’t get you!
Trey,
Good luck on your marathon. I didn’t run but just got back from walking the Bataan Death March Memorial Marathon down at White Sands Missile Range. Amazing experience!
