Can you imagine being so poor and so hungry that you’d take up residence at your local dump and dig through the disgusting trash to find yourself something to eat? Can you imagine feeding your children scraps of molded rotting garbage, just so they can live? Can you imagine your children picking the little bites of chicken off a chicken bone they found in the garbage? All these are regular occurrences at the dump in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Tegucigalpa dump is a dark and horrible place to live, yet many people do. For the last two years we’ve helped make a difference in these forgotten people’s lives, with our Dump Day.
Dump Day is May 4th this year. Since the start of Dump Day and because of your donations …
- A daycare center has been set up outside the dump so that parents will not have to take their children into the dump with them.
- Food is provided at the dump.
- Baby formula is provided.
- A shower place was built outside so that people could wash themselves and clean up.
- A water sanitation system has been set up outside the dump where people can get clean water.
- This year (besides providing meals for hungry people) an aquaponics garden/farm project is being built on land outside the dump. This is big because it will feed the people and provide jobs for years! It is estimated that the garden will provide 1 million pounds of fish and food a year.
All these things are helping to break the vicious cycle of poverty that keeps people in the dump! It provides many families and children with a way out! Your giving has been amazing.

I just finished fasting for our church and where they’re to be. I was planning on fasting for the first time for Dump Day, but this came up first. Looking forward to fasting again soon and bringing attention to the situation in Honduras. Seeing this video makes me want to go so badly, but I I think I need to stay close to family this year. Thank you for all you do, thanks and praise to God for you.
Julie
Julie … I’m excited about this year’s Dump Day. Whether we raise any money or not, the story of the ministry of the dump will be told.
Song on the video is performed and written by friend Nathan Hale. He and friend Andy Hubright are coming to Honduras within a week to begin working on a farm project that will raise fish and vegetables. It will rescue people from the darkness of the dump and will provide low cost food for about 100+ families.
Excellent point, Mark.
Wow! I got goosebumps watching that video. Thank you for posting it Trey. How can we help with this?
Thank you to the singers and writer of that great song! Very strong message with a great video.
The song was awesome too
I got goosebumps. Thank you Trey and Nathan!
God bless. Keep preaching the word and making disciples Trey!
BTW, when do you go to Honduras next?
PS. I just wrote about this video on my own blog as well.
Thank you Zack … I appreciate the help to spread the word.

Thanks for all you do in this mission and here at home. The video was very up-lifting and makes me realized how very fortunate I am and how thankful I should be. Glad I have a chance to give to this great project. Praise the Lord.
I’ve typed a dozen things and none of them say what I want to express about this ministry. May our Lord continue to bless and protect those involved in feeding his sheep. Looking forward to another amazing Dump Day!
Tamie … thanks for being such a HUGE part of the work in Honduras.
