Inside Ned's ring it says "Psalm 37:4--heart's desire"---Mine says "James 1:17, good and perfect gift"----But our hearts say so much more. God is good to us and the blessing of each other is so much more than we deserve--
eternally grateful
Neva

Another great post Trey.

Cherish wearing those rings guys and gals. I wore one for over 17 years and suddenly 10 days before my wife's 44th birthday she went to heaven.

Many months after I buried my sweetheart I finally was able to take that ring off my finger, and still it broke my heart all over again.

By God's loving mercy, now I wear another. For just over 8 years I proudly have worn the ring given to me by my best friend, answer to prayer, loving wife, and partner in ministry. I hope to leave planet earth still wearing it.

Cherish wearing the ring, it is the emblem of one of God's choicest gifts on earth.

Grace to you,
Royce Ogle

Ha. I take mine off for hamburger meat and bread dough and other things. But I keep a good eye on it the whole time. Though it's just a small rock embedded in a piece of metal, and it won't follow me to the next life, it does mean a lot symbolically, and I cherish it. It's nice to know guys feel the same way about their rings. :)

Trey,
You are good brother. As I sit here and look at my ring, I am reminded of the many ups and downs (more ups!) that our marriage has faced. Thank you for the new found appreciation of my own band.

I am lucky too.

So, is she though :-)

My sweet husband took my first wedding ring to be shined up and checked out shortly after the birth of one of our kids. Unfortunately, it returned with a crack in one of the diamonds and other problems that were not there before. We didn't have the money to fix it so I bought one for $40 at a pawn shop. It has five small diamonds, one for each of us and a simple gold band. It means so much to me. It was appraised for over $400 so it was also a good deal. One day, I would like to get my original fancy ring fixed, but for now I appreciate the simplicity and sentiment of this ring. In some ways it means more to me than the original because it combines memories, hardships, and accomplishments of our first 10+ years of marriage.
Kathy

I had a similar thought about the doghouse. Maybe I just know where I land myself.

Your thougths are a great reminder. I was thinking about my ring a couple of days age. When we married Kathy gave me an expensive ring. It was cut with a certain amount of etching that made it sparkle. It was thick and heavy. It would last a lifetime. About five and a half years ago it was stolen. I was extremely disapointed. Long story short after two more rings in less time than that, we purchased a $40 ring.

I remember when I was in school at Sunset, Daryl and I were visiting and I noticed his ring and he couldn't really take it off. I remember the callous that had built up around it. I mention this to say I have only taken my ring off my finger maybe three times in five years. I wear it all the time. I have developed that same kind of a callous on my finger. My old ring was nice. I took it off when I was called home from work to deal with a plumbing crisis. I did not want to get that muck all over my nice ring. The first ring was great and I sometimes wish I still had it but as time goes by I realize it was too nice for the real world of marriage. The last couple of weeks I have had to deal with plumbing problems and other messes but the ring stayed. When I face the messes of life whatever they are the ring is there to remind me of us being in it together.
James

Trey Maybe I should have just posted this on my blog but it fits here.

Hey Trey, thanks for the e-mail, and the prayer your prayed for us yesterday.

I hope very much my wedding will actually last 19 years. It's silver, so it gets dinged up more than gold. I bought in Mexico City (where Katie was an AIMer) for seven bucks. The engraving here in the states cost more than the ring.

It definitely hold much sentimental value, I just hope it passes the test of time. :o)
