I am amazed by all the things a cellphone and smartphone will do these days. On my Blackberry I can check my email, Facebook messages and text messages. My cellphone also has my date book, my “to do” list and my address book on it.
One of the things I love most about my phone are all the free apps that you can get for it. Here are my favorite apps for the Blackberry. (I’d also like to mention again, they are free) . . .
  • YouVersion Bible – This is my favorite application. Having access to the bible, a bible search engine and multiple translations is invaluable. It also offers daily reading plan and daily devotions. Besides all this, it’s also free and I love free.

  • BerryWeather – Another sign that I’m getting old is the fact that I love watching the weather, the temperatures and the forecasts. BerryWeather gives you the option to watch the forecasts for up to 10 different locations. This gives me the opportunity to think bad thoughts about my son Taylor, who is off enjoying 80 degree Miami weather, while I’m suffering in freezing temperatures.
  • UberTwitter – I’ve tried every Twitter app available for Blackberry, and UberTwitter is the only one that did not lock up at times on my phone. UberTwitter is simple and user friendly.
  • Facebook App – I’m still amazed that Facebook has become the social application for communication. Anymore it’s the way to communicate. I find it interesting that instead of getting emails or text messages from people about meetings and upcoming events, I often get Facebook messages. It’s become the new way to communicate.
  • Google Maps – Although the iPhone and the Droid offer a free GPS app, the Blackberry wants you to pay for theirs. I refuse to pay money for Blackberry’s GPS application, so Google Maps is as close as you can get to a free GPS.
  • Google Sync – I no longer have to carry a date book or calendar because I keep my datebook and appointments on Blackberry with Google Calendar. I’m able to sync between the two with the Google Sync program.
  • Blackberry Messenger – A must for Blackberry users.
  • ScoreMobil for Blackberry – A great little app for the sports fan. ScoreMobil has sports news, scores and standings for every sport.
  • AP News App – I get all my daily news delivered right to my Blackberry every morning with the AP News App. I also can adjust the settings for the news I do and don’t want to receive.
  • Blackberry App World – A little program to find apps
What apps do you use on your phone?

I switched from blackberry to the new Droid offered by Verizon.

This is my favorite app and it is on blackberry too!

eBuddy. A chat that allows you to be on every chat out there, but only logged into one place, and doesn't hurt your battery life.

My husband and I have Verizon Droids, and we have found Google Calendar and OurGroceries to be two of the best applications for us as a couple.

Another personal favorite of mine is Shazam for when I hear a song that I really like and want to remember to get it later on ITunes or if I have no clue what the song is, I can capture a bit of it with Shazam and pretty consistently it will return the singer and album title.

  3. Adam Gonnerman says:

My hubby doesnt have a Blackberry, but his phone has so many apps. I'll be watching TV and he'll blurt out–this phone is great! I'll be talking to him about something while he's listening with one ear–then he'll blurt out, this phone is so cool! He'll walk in the house from work, greet me and blurt out–My phone is the bomb! I simply say to him, Baby what did you discover today on that fantastic phone of yours? It's my love for him that allows me to endure. 😉

We have iPhones with a host of free apps, but the one I want and can't get free (yet) is a decent but simple compass! With my directional skills, or lack thereof, I would use it often.

I'm still app-phone-less. My phone calls and texts :)

  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
  • Chin up Childress Bobcats. We couldn't be prouder. Great fight tonight.
