My Heart is Broken Today

My heart hurts today.

I got this message from Marc Tindall this morning, “The feeding center project in Nueve Oriental is closed until there is funding to pay the bills. We have been blessed to provide tons of food for them – please pray that we can find a way to start getting kids fed with food and with Jesus.”

I’ve seen the wonderful ministry of this feeding center on many of my trips to Honduras. The little village of Nueve Oriental is one of the poorest anywhere and for many of the children in this little village, it’s their main source of food. They provided one meal a day for them, and often it’s the only food they get each day. Now … it’s closed and it breaks my heart.

Marc is supposed to meet with the man who runs this feeding project this week. Maybe he can find out what has to be done to get the center up and going again.

Please join me in asking God to help find a solution to reopen this feeding center.

Kids lining up at the feeding center before we fed.

For many of the kids, this is their only meal they get.

I will be praying that our Father will make a way to keep this place open so that these children can be physically and spiritually fed.

I will do what I can. This missionary is barely scraping by right now financially, but I am reminded how abundantly blessed I have been, and know there is always room to give.

I, too, have spent a lot of time at Nueve Oriental. The children are some of the most precious I have ever met in my life. They have such thankful hearts. My heart hurts to think that the feeding center will close & the children will experience hungry bellies once again. The picture of those sweet little ones not praying out loud and praising God before eating their meal, grieves my heart as much. I am joining you in praying & begging God for His intervention because He loves them the most and He is more than able.

Hey, Trey! Please let Rick and I know when you find out. We’re praying that funding will be provided for those precious children. Jobs were lost, too. The ladies in the kitchen were always so sweet.

  • it's still early. :)
  • no worries. Luke is a very popular gospel during the Christmas season. 😜 #BabyJesusStory
  • Mitch Moreland has a combined 1.6 WAR since the start of 2011 at a premium position (DH/1B). That position needs to produce.
  • definitely don't disagree with that. We will miss his glove. But he had such a quiet bat for someone at first base.
  • I only disliked him when he was at the plate.
