Jesus Banquet

Hello from Lea! Trey does not have internet access this time, so I will try to give updates here and on his Facebook as I hear from him.

Spoke with Trey around 2:00 p.m. They were in the middle of the “Jesus Banquet” at the dump. What was supposed to be a 2 hour event, has turned into an all day affair. The tables were late arriving, and they assumed the caterers would be bringing the food already prepared. They actually showed up with big grills and prepared the food on the spot. One of the other churches that went to help (I believe Trey said from Georgia), brought about 150 small children’s backpacks full of coloring books, crayons, and small toys. Rickey Husband donned a Santa suit and went throughout the dump delivering these to the children!

Then the real excitement began! Here came several police cars with lights flashing. It turned out to be the First Lady of Honduras and the media! She gave a nice speech and thanked mark Tindall for what he was doing. Trey said not much went according to plan, but turned out better than they could have imagined! When will we learn that God’s plans are always superior to ours?

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

I hope you will pause a moment and give God the glory for what He did today at the Tegucigalpa dump.

Thanks for the update Lea. Sounds great.

Wonder which first lady it was? They've got the one whose husband was kicked out in June, the one whose husband took his place, and the one whose husband was just voted in.

Whatever it was, I'm sure their work has been a blessing.

    Grace and peace,
    Tim Archer

Hey Trey! I found your blog…It was so awesome to be a part of the feast at the dump! Although our day was quite long, we completed our mission. God Bless to you and your friends whom we left building houses. Hopefully, we will be able to do the longer trip in the summer and build some more, too:) By the way, we had our picture made with the newly elected Honduran President and the mayor of Tegucigalpa at the airport today!!

Tears and chills running up and down my body as I read. God is beyond imagination and boundaries – we must plan, prepare and show up to be swept into His love.

As Tami said, it was a blessing to meet Trey, Randy and Ricky and participate in this event.

One of the ways we saw God's hand work in a special way had to do with the backpacks that Tami and the folks from the Church at Trace Crossing in Tupelo brought. We were all talking about how to distribute them without causing a riot, and as it turned out the First Lady herself handed out all 100+ backpacks!! So God used the Honduran secret service and other security forces that were present (and there were LOTS of them!) to solve the problem.

Very cool… Trey and Kevin Wood (Tupelo) have some incredible pictures that I'm certain will be posted here soon.
