If The World Ends Today … Are You Ready?

Everyone’s been talking about it all week … it’s coming they say … the Day of Judgment or as some have called it, “The Rapture.” Some self-proclaimed “experts” say they have figured out when it’s going to take place and  it’s all supposed to happen today, May 21st. They say, the world as we know it will end. It’s been a hot enough topic that even my 9 year old son, Cooper, came home from school this week asking if I had heard about it.

Just so you’ll know … the bible does speak of a literal Day of Judgment. It will be a time when God will draw all people unto Him, the world will be destroyed, and He will judge everyone according to the lives they lived here on the earth. Then, the bible says, He will separate us into two groups, those on the right getting heaven, and those on the left getting hell  (Read about it … Matthew 25).

So do I personally think the Day of Judgment is going to come when they say it is? Will the so called “Rapture” take place on May 21st?  Here’s what I think …

I seriously doubt that May 21st is Judgment Day … but if it is … I’m perfectly fine with that. I’m ready to go.

Can you say the same thing? If today is the day the Lord is coming back and Judgment Day takes place … are you good with that? If not, that may be a sign that something is NOT right in your life.

  • Could it be that maybe you’ve become too comfortable in this world … which we’re told not to be?
  • Could it be that maybe you’ve done what Jesus said not to do, and you’ve laid up too many treasures on this earth and not any in the one to come?
  • Could it be that maybe you’ve not lived your life for God … but instead for yourself?

Why don’t I think He’s coming back on May 21st? Because the bible says that no one knows when the Lord will return. Simple as that. But if He does … I’m ready.

How about you?

Lots of people have been talking about it here (in the UK) too. I agree with you that I don’t think it will happen because it says no-one will know, but if it is, I think I’d be ready to go…

  2. I’m very concerned about the Campingites and how they’ ll react come Sunday. Last week I saw families with small children walking up 6th avenue with “Judgment Day” signs.

As an aside, Matthew 25 is powerful stuff, but I don’t think it’s talking about the judgment we expect when Christ returns. 70 AD and all that…anway….

  3. Debbie says:

I’m ready…… being with God would be way better than being here. God forgives me for my weaknesses, people don’t.

  4. Vicki Locklear says:

Great thoughts as usual Trey. I always enjoy you blogs. Thanks for sharing you wisdom.

  5. Zach Boggess says:

    Matthew 24:36
“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

    • Zach Boggess says:

On a side note, I’m not sure if I would be ready. I feel as though we have much more to do in the world, and that if all of the chosen were to leave this world, I would like to leave it in a much better state then it is presently.

  6. Jessica says:

Yep, I’m ready, and the sooner the better!

  7. Potluck says:

If its tomorrow, I’m set to go. Beam me up, but your post has given me pause. I thought once baptized, always baptized. And building up treasures in heaven??? I’d failed at bible trivia obviously.

  8. Barry Wiseman says:

Amen! I’m giving the baccalaureate message Sunday. Still agonizing over whether I should prepare my PPT or not 😉 Joking!

  9. Jess says:

The time always draws nearer every second we’re here. I’m ready as I can be, but man, I’ve got a heapin’ stack of things to account for. Thank God that He forgives.

All of the billboards refer to Ezekiel. What makes me think is Ezekiel 33:12. I know that I have been (past tense) saved. I know that I and my house LOVE the Lord. I know that my children know the Lord. (As much as a 3yr and 6yr old can) I know that because I am not the the Father, I cannot be without fault. So…I pretty much live in repentance for my daily life. Every night when I rehash my day I think of where I have fallen short (prob a female thing idk) either as a wife or as a parent or in my professional life and relationships with my friends and family and try not to let it turn into guilt but instead to just lift it up to Him and send out love instead. I am far from perfect and have a lot of regrets and I’m possitive many missed opportunities every day. But I love the Lord and as long as I can have peace in Him I will be be ready to go with my family on Judgement Day, weather it be now or only God knows when (again Matthew 24:36, something tells me it’s not a mathematical equasion)

The Rapture won’t be tomorrow because it’s already tomorrow in Australia and no Rapture!

  12. Katherine says:

I am ready…but I still feel like there is SO much to be done here on earth…so many people to help and that don’t yet know Jesus that I am not ready…and want to embrace each opportunity even more!!

  13. Lura says:

The thing that bothers me is that the folks claiming to know the day of judgement are claiming to be Christians. When it doesn’t happen the world will just chalk it up as more proof that all Christians are just crazy and give the atheists a tighter grip on their claim that there is no God.

If Jesus returns today I pray that I am ready. I know I want to be, am trying to be and that I rely on His grace and mercy and blood to cover my sins. My goal is to live everyday as if it were my last.

  14. Pennie Adams says:

I think that it is essential that every so often some weirdo proclaims the day that the end of time is coming- this gets people to thinking – maybe examining their life. We should live our lives daily as if in the a blink of an eye the end of our times is over and be ready – I’m ready and what is coming is much better than what we have here.

  15. Gary says:

I’m assuming Jesus’ watch is set for PST. He’s got 1:15 to show. Meantime, a little focus on what is true and what needs to be true, this coming from a career missionary to unreached peoples. The simple fact of the matter, beyond the point that we can’t know the date or the hour, is Matthew 24 says the gospel will be preached to all nations and *then* the end will come. But we have not done that yet. So why would we think Jesus would come back before that’s finished. Twice in Revelations (looking back into the future) 5:9, 7:9 ALL tongues, and tribes will be represented. We’re making great progress, still a ways to go.

  16. Patrick says:

Whew… we’re still here and PRAISE GOD because he still finds us faithful in working with Him to complete what needs to be done…and there is a lot more needing done! Besides, God would not end it before receiving all the joy he will get from you and your team going to Honduras in a few months to feed His sheep!

Thank you Trey for sending the wristband. I received it yesterday and it sure made my day! I wear it with pride and honor to you, your team and the Hondurans. You are all in my thoughts and prayers daily.

      • Patrick says:

Your blog is part of my quiet time with Him daily! Gives me strenght and encouragement to keep on keep’in on…

  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
