“I’m finding it hard to squeeze some quiet time with God into my daily schedule.” Grrr, if I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say the previous statement, I’d put all that money in a bag and whack them over the head with it.
Let me just simply say that if you can’t find even a little bit of quiet time for God each day, then it’s time to give your ‘to-do’ list a major overhaul. Hitting the ground running each day is not spiritually healthy. You have got to take some time to just be still.
Busyness is the arch-enemy of spiritual growth … AND if Satan can’t get you to give in to sin, he’ll be content with keeping you really busy.
So if you’ve acquired the unfortunate habit of trying to “squeeze” God into the corners of your life, today is a good day to reshuffle the items on your priority list.
Simply slow down (Mark 6:31-32).

I don’t know that anyone has ever had the nerve to say that to me (yet I tend to limit myself to a fairly small circle of really smart people…
) but it makes me think of Ramsey talking about if you “don’t have room in your budget for a tithe — then you’ve got your budget upside down…” Though I confess that there are days that I don’t stop and spend the time with the Lord that I should, it soon becomes glaringly obvious that that is the problem with my day — and my heart and attitude. Speaking of… better go dig into the word and get off Facebook, Twitter, blogs… (OOPS!) (let me dig that splinter outta your eye — hold my plank?)
It just seems to be a continually growing problem in our ever-busy, increasingly technological culture, brother. We talk about it a lot here. People want to compartmentalize their relationship with God instead of making Him the leader (Lord) of everything they do. I like Luke 10:38-42…it is a beneficial message concerning the conundrum of staying busy vs. slowing down to listen to the Lord… Blessings, Don
I really think you could exchange the word “Busyness” for “the world” and the many times Christ spoke against that….and I agree that Satan uses that more and more in our families, including mine, today.
Amen, and Amen…
You know that’s “code” for “time to stop stepping on my toes,” right?
Needed this today! Thanks!
You are so right and when I find that happening I do just what you suggested. Taking another look at what IS taking my time. Thanks.
