Wow, did we ever get hit with a major ice storm this weekend. Our usually busy town of Childress has been shut down for the weekend. School has already been cancelled for Monday. Church services were cancelled about an hour before they were supposed to start. Man, I had a great sermon prepared for this morning. Looks like I’m already a step ahead for next week’s sermon.
So, my plans are to hang around the house today, build a fire in the fireplace, have a devotional with my family and watch two NFL playoff football games. Hopefully, they will be as good as the two Saturday games.
For those who were able to attend worship services somewhere today … I hope you heard a great sermon and were uplifted, encouraged and challenged. So the question for the day is, “What did the preacher preach about?”

It’s pretty rough out there, isn’t it? Saturday night about 11 I went to the bathroom & noticed water on the floor. (that’s right Trey. the brand new partially tiled floor) A frantic investigation ferreted out a broken connection on the top of the water heater. It was spraying water all over the place. I had to drain it & turn the water off at the meter. Yesterday morning, I was just about to run to the in-laws to take a shower & get ready to go to bible class when I got the phone call saying it was cancelled. I spent the rest of the morning calling plumbers to find one that even had the parts to fix the problem. Finally around noon one came by & I helped him fix it. God was watching over us because when the water was turned back on; no leaks & no frozen pipes! I spent a little extra quiet time last night thinking of how bad things could have been & how good they came out & giving thanks…
Dane … Ouch, what a rough Saturday night and Sunday for you. While I found a ton of time to relax during the ice storm, you did everything but relax. And plumbing? I hate plumbing. Glad everything worked out.
I do have to say I’m impressed that you were still planning on coming to Bible class with all that going on. Also, I hope you go to see a little football yesterday.
Oh, there’s not much that will stand between me & playoff football. Next week ought to be a couple tough games. GO SAINTS!!!
I’m not sure I was rooting for or against anyone (now that the Cowboys are out), but I did want all the games to be “good” games. And they were. All 4, right down to the wire.
I guess I’m pulling for a Colts/Saints Superbowl since neither team has won one.
That’s about my idea too. I think I want the Saint’s to win since Breese is a Texas boy. But then again, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Colts win either. Either way it should be a good game.
