Last night the church did our WATS program. WATS stands for “We Are The Sermon.” It’s going out in the community and serving others, and being the sermon, instead of sitting in a pew and listening to a sermon. A huge group of people showed up with gloves, mowers, weed-eaters, rakes, hoes, etc. We spent the next few hours serving those in the community that needed help.
Service to others is fun, and I love the fact that our church wants to “be the church” and “do church” and not just “go to church.” I love the fact that they have a heart for service … just like Jesus.
My friend Stachia said it best, when she wrote on her Facebook status late last night, “I love my church family! Tonight they went out into the community and mowed yards, hauled trash off, passed out bags of school supplies and fed hot dogs to anybody that wanted one. It was a great evening of fun and fellowship.”
I have to agree with Stachia, “I love my church family.”

Sounds like a good Sunday evening!
This is exactly what church is…and I love it!
