Happy Blog Anniversary

My blog turns 5 years old today. I can’t believe I’ve stuck with this for five whole years. With Facebook and other places to share your thoughts, sometimes I wonder why I’m still blogging, but for now, I am.  I’d like to give a shout-out to a handful of people…

  • Thank you to those who take time to stop by and read. You may or may not have ever left a comment, but you stop by, and I thank you.
  • Thanks to my friend, Monica, my fairy-blog-mother, who five years ago encouraged me to start blogging. She not only encouraged me, but also spent a lot of time showing me how to set up a blog.
  • A BIG thanks to my sweet and beautiful wife, Lea, who three times a week has to hear me ask, “Hey babe, would you proof my blog before I publish it?” Also thanks to my kids who allow me to blog about them … like it or not. :)
  • I’ve made some amazing friendships through my blog. V.A., a dear sweet man who we’ve fallen in love with. He has kind of adopted our family and we have been blessed by him. He has supported my family on mission trips and shared both his love, friendship and wisdom.  N.B., who I’ve never met, but she has probably been reading my blog since day one. Her constant friendship and encouragement have been uplifting.
  • God has used this blog for some incredible new ministries to take place. One year we raised $12,000 for feeding the Dump People in Honduras. A year later God helped us raise $50,000 more to continue the work of feeding hungry people in Honduras. In two weeks I’ll make another trip to Honduras to help with that ministry of feeding hungry people.

Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts, frustrations, humor and more of my life than I probably should. Have a GREAT Thanksgiving.

~ Trey

    Trey,

I love reading your blog. I doubt I would have started coming to church if it wasn’t for this. I had some incredibly mixed up views about the C of C. Boy, was I wrong!!

Please keep up the great work…here, in church, Honduras, Facebook…use every means at your disposal to get the word out.

Happy Blog Anniversary #5! Who knew that starting a little blog five years ago would morph into what it has today?

You’ve certainly touched many people through this blog adventure, including me. I’m very thankful that I stumbled onto your blog so many years ago. You’ve taught me so many things and answered so many questions.

Thank you for being my question answerer, my sounding board, my listener, and my friend!

Keep writing! You’ll never know the number of lives the words you’ve written in this blog have touched!

  15. Wendy says:

Trey, I have probably recommended your blog to more people than any other blog I read. Thanks for allowing us to partner with you in what you do in Honduras and for inspiring us!

  16. Katherine says:

Thanks for sticking with it & sharing your life with us!! I am glad God has used avenues like this to re-connect us…you are a blessing!!

V.A. has also richly blessed me & supports the work here in China. I am so thankful for him & hope to meet him someday…

The online community is most definitely a rich addition & I am glad you are a part of that (even though I knew you before)…who knew our paths would cross so much after meeting in Alaska?!

Thank you for continuing to allow God to use you in His Kingdom & all of the great work in Honduras!! You are a vital tool to His Great Mission…

    Love you, friend. Blessings~

Your blog is a shining example of how God is using the internet for His glory. I am thankful for your blog for so many reasons. Your transparency, wisdom and wit speak to so many. Mostly, I am personally thankful for the friendship we now share with you and your family, for the opportunities we have had to serve together, for the friends we have met through you. This is one of the things I applaud God for. He is truly HUGE!

  18. Maggie Beth says:

5 yrs! That is very impressive Mr. Fancy-Pants (SMILE!)

I can’t believe I have only known about your blog for 13 months!! (Seems lifetimes ago!)

I remember in mid-October last year I Googled ~ “Blog, Christian, father, girl” – and the very first result was your post about having your fingernails painted.

That post did not fit what I was looking for ~ but it fit perfectly into God’s plan for me and the healing of my torn soul.

Because of you I began a blog. A blog I quickly outgrew as I finally ‘voiced’ and let go of much hurt that needed to be put to rest.

Only two friends know my ‘complete’ story ~ but they know the chapter where I mustered up the courage to e-mail a pastor in another state and ’emotionally throw-up’ all that had weighed me down.

Never met you ~ never heard you utter a word ~ but through you ~ God preformed a mighty miracle.

Do not take these words lightly ~ “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”

I am so grateful (and humbled) that God is greater than Google.

    ~ Maggie Beth

(PS) and thank you to your beautiful family for allowing you to share them with us ~ that is no ‘small’ thing……..

  19. Jeanne M. says:

Thank you for keeping going with your blog. Too many have gone strictly to Facebook, and though that is okay, it doesn’t give us thoughts to “chew on.” God bless you and your family, and my family in Childress although I have never met all of you. Awesome group of loving people.

  20. Donna says:

If nothing else keeps you blogging the “dump kids” experience should.

The thing about blogging over FACEBOOK is the history. It is so much fun for me to go back and see what was going on in my life a year ago, or two years ago.

Don’t stop! I will always read…even if I do not always comment.

  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
