Trey,
We ate at a Chinese buffet in your honor today. I also had the Sesame Chicken. It was mostly dough and not alot of chicken. I’ll try again. I get sick everytime I eat there. Today I opted for anything without a sauce and I have felt fine. Maybe it is just the MSG. The girls really liked it. We referred to it as the Deuce. Really I think it was the second of the four Chinese buffets to open in town.

Trey,
I love the new famiy picture. You have a great looking family.
We feel the same way about buffets. My problem is trying to not keep up with James or to eat 2 days of food at once. My kids already eat all their food at some places and wonder what they are going to have next. That’s why, if it is not a buffet, we aim at a place with bread or chips that keep coming. Kobi could eat the olive oil/ garlic dip at Carinos with a spoon. Kyli does eat a cheese sauce (different than regular queso) at a local Mexican food place with a spoon. Our goal is to not eat any where that costs more than $16 for all of us including tip. Carinos is only for really special occasions and we better be walking out with left overs. Yes, when we go to places like Tulsa, we eat out 1 meal and eat sandwiches for another or left overs and bum off the motel’s breakfast line to fill us up in the morning. It really helps with expense and I get tired of too much restraunt food. I’d rather have pb&J and carrots. Otherwise, we only eat out once a week.

As for buffets … I’m sure I told you in the past, we went to Chilli’s once and we all ate off them menu. When the ticket came it was $55 for the six of us and 3 of the boys were saying, “I’m still hungry, isn’t there anything else to eat?”

At the buffet’s if you don’t get full it’s your own fault. As for Chinese … isn’t the sasame chicken to die for?

Grace, YES! I’m so in need. I appreciated the reference to the ‘filthy rags’.

Sunday dinner is meant to be out with others. I can go either way. Buffet is faster and in our world it is easier. Sit down is nice though. If I really want to visit it can be the better choice as there may be too many people / distractions. James

Oh, I forgot to comment on the “dinner” assuming that you mean what I call lunch? My mom has breakfast, dinner, and supper. I have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (had to add that one since you seem to get constant grief about your accent) Anyway, around here mexican is always the choice unless we can all gang up on Rocky for Chillis.

did you mention that in your sermon, I haven't listened yet.

shalom is a lot bigger than the absence of peace, it is about wholeness, completeness, well-being, unity, etc.

Chris … your right about grace. I got a credit card offer by phone the other day that said they would send me their “True Grace Card.” I asked what “True Grace” meant. They said if we’d take out this credit card we could have “True Grace,” meaning we could skip a payment if we needed to. I asked him if that meant that I wouldn’t have to pay at all? He said no I’d still have to pay my bill AND there would be interested added on, but it was “True Grace” meaning I’d get to delay my payment.

I don’t think the man thought it was funny when I told him that that is not TRUE grace. True grace is free and you can’t pay it back. Oh well, we don’t use stinking credit cards anyway.

I’m glad God doesn’t have their kind of “True Grace.”

Trey, appreciate the thoughts about grace and your blog in general as it has both challenged and encouraged me.

I have been thinking a lot about your post titled, "Sharing Coffee with a Homeless Man." And, it brought to mind the passage where Jesus was approached by a leper who said, "Lord, if you will you can make me whole." The passage informs us that Jesus reached out and touched him. Interestingly enough, Jesus touched him before he healed him.

Grace reaches out to those who are undeserving, whether it be God reaching out to sinners like me, or sinners like me reaching out to others.

I might have to learn to like buffets as the kids get older, but for me I’d rather sit & be served — definitely more cost-efficient that way since I don’t eat enough at a buffet to make it worth the cost (and I can take home the leftovers from a sit-down place). Maybe I ought to just stretch my stomach more to keep up with my guys. (o;

For a quiet Sunday family dinner it would have to be Chinese and buffet. We all love the food and buffet only makes since with growing boys.

For a Sunday dinner with friends, it would probably be the Mexican Restaurant – the atmosphere is more lively and upbeat.

Enjoyed the notes from your sermon. I cannot imagine a life without grace.

As for your question. I would rather be eating at moms with all family around, helping cook, helping clean up, etc. Lots of laughter. (cheaper too.
