The average American family spends about $341.98 on food per week. Here’s what a weeks worth of food looks like.
The people at the dump today will eat what they find or what they are given. Thankfully today we have an opportunity to give to help feed the people who live at the dump outside of Santa Ana, Honduras.
So who’s willing to help give today to feed the hungry?
Here is what let’s do … if you’re willing to give today please let us know by leaving a comment that you intend to give. If you’re willing, let us know how much you’re sending so we can get an idea if we’ll reach our $2500 goal today. If you’re uncomfortable saying who you are, then just leave it as “Anonymous.” Anything will help today … $10, $25, $100 … anything!
Also. don’t forget we have a kind gentleman who has pledged to match dollar for dollar anything given over the $2500 goal (up to $2500). Meaning if we can raise $5000 this week, he’ll write a check for $2500. That, my friends, would be awesome.
So here is where you can send your donation:
Torch
PO Box 9222
Columbus, MS 39705
(Please add somewhere “DUMP FUND”.)
Your check is tax deductible.
or
If you live in Childress you can give it to me or send it to
Childress Church of Christ
PO Box 239
Childress, Texas 79201

I’m in for $50. God bless you and the Tindalls!
Hey Bro, I know God is honored by your efforts and the support you’ve received from everyone today!
My family and I would like to join this awesome effort with a $25.00 contribution as well. I’ll plan on sending it tomorrow.
BTW – I’ll be going to Honduras next week with a team of college students and adults to work building houses, feeding the homeless, visiting an orphanage and a boys home, and anything else we can do to help. Please remember us in your prayers. I’m going to try to keep facebook and twitter updated if you want to follow along, thanks Trey…
looks like maybe that $1000 got matched too? can’t wait to see the true total in the AM, can’t do the math on my own right now
HOW EXCITING!!!!!!
$25
Hi Trey,
I don’t have a paypal account. Any other way I can get money to you? Feel free to email me: lctheaven (at) ukonline (dot) co (dot) uk
Ok Trey,
We just counted our money and we have $24.25! Thank you for allowing us to participate in this fund raiser.
We learned that we can give to those that don’t have as much as we do. We need to put others needs before ours. We are so lucky to have good food so we should give money so others can be fed.
We learned that if we work together we can accomplish more than we can alone!
We hope this blesses the people in Honduras.
Mrs. Jenschke’s 3rd Grade Class
I need to give a shout out to Lindsey Bruce, Jerriann, Sherry Fisher, Anonymous and the Wilson's. Thanks to each of you.
Detwilers, McManus family, Corneilus Family, Anonymous and D&A Warren … Thank you So much!
My old friends Matt & Cheryl, Bobby Cohoon, Tindalls, Jamie & NB … You guys are awesome.
LCT – Thanks for sharing your desire to help. That you're seeking ways to reach out across the ocean. No worries about not having a paypal account, but I'm out of options. My suggestion is to honor this work by remembering them in your prayers … more valuable that money
You are a sweetie!
Dear Mrs Jenschke's 3rd Grade Class: You guys are awesome. Thank you for what you've done. I'm proud of you.
NOW FOR AN UPDATE: We are currently sitting at a whopping $8961.25. This does not include the $1000 challenge just because I haven't been able to contact the challenger to see if they agree that we've completed this challenge. If they agree we have, then we'll add $1000 into our total.
You realize that's right at $10,000 to feed the hungry. I'm still in awe of God and your generosity.
I dare say it … but is another $2000 possible today?
Think of the peace this offers not only the hungry eating from the dump, but the missionaries who have to feed them. I'm sure there's some peace knowing there's money in their account to do this
KEEP IT COMING!
lct…. how much did you want to give?
I can give Trey the money then you could just send a cheque to my parents in England
Trey: As I addressed the envelope to send my check I wanted to see how things were going. I just read through all the comments.
Having done fundraisers for years with my bike riding I am totally blown away that your blogger buddies pitched in $10,000 in one day. God is truly amazing when HE blesses our humble efforts.
Thanks for stepping out in faith and heading this up.
Bikegirl (Renee)
Trey, AMAZING!! This is the 1st time I've visited your blog. I'm convicted because like most of the time, I'm selfishly thinking what I can blog that will make many people want to follow my blog, and read yours, where you are being selfless like Christ & the people follow you. God bless your Christlike nature & count me in for $25 which I will mail to you. C Marion
I’m in for $25.00…and will link to you off of facebook….$2,000 may be the low end for today !!

The Howell House commited $100 yesterday,
We have decided to add half to it, and do 150.
anyone else want to do the same today?
You are all awsome for your giving:
thank you Trey
Matt H. – I committed $100 yesterday as well. I’ll take your challenge and add half to mine. I’ll send another $50.
REMINDER: When sending money to Torch please remember to include “DUMP FUND” on it. Thanks!
Had Breakfast with DQ George from Long Beach, MS, he wants to add his $50 to the pot.
Actually L.C.T. You could just sign up for a paypal account at paypal.co.uk. It only takes a few moments and then you can send money by credit/debit card. I’m still happy to send Trey the money and you send it to my parents in England though. Either way is good with me.
Trey – I’m with Donna. I think $2000 is the low end.
Let’s go for a total of $20,000 by the end of the day.
Didn’t Jesus say “You do not have because you do not ask” or something along those lines.
Thanks to everyone who gave no matter the amount, and thanks to everyone who made me get my check book out to pay up on the $1000 challenge. I'll get my check sent out today
Dave & Connie
I’ll take the challenge and add half of my donation yesterday; put me down for $10 more today!
Wednesday a.m. Sorry we are late, but we are mailing 30.00 today. How much are we up to now? This is such an amazing and exciting undertaking. May God bless you and yours, the bloggers and also that AIM student we support in AIM who inspired all this with her letters of the needs in Hondurus. gmj
Trey, I found your blog and this post through Dixie Cornelius. I’m going to match the 3rd graders’ class of $8 and add $2 to make it an even $10. Good Luck! I saw where you agreed to let it come through Paypal. That’s how I’ll send it.

Peter P it’d be real easy to send a cheque to somewhere in England! Drop me an email with an address at lctheaven (at) ukonline (dot) co (dot) uk. I want to give £15.
LCT – Just had a kind person bring by a check and there was an extra $20 in it. When I asked what that was for he said, “For sweet girl in England who wants to give and can’t. We’ll cover hers too.”
Pretty kind hua?
Cayden and Madison are each giving $10 of their money and I will match theirs. The Willis family will send $30.00. This is such a great thing!!
I emailed L.C.T details of where to send the money in England and I’m putting a check in the mail to you today for $23
We, too, are accepting the challenge of raising our first pledge. We are sending an additional $50.00. May God bless all those that give, as well as those that receive. What an Awesome God that so many hearts have been touched! We, are, indeed, blessed to be a part of this out reach ministry.
Blessings to all!
Sue & Don T.
I’ve never taken the time to read over 100 blog responses, but just finished reading through the ones to this point. I’m having trouble seeing the monitor for the tears in my eyes! You gave us an avenue, Trey, but we all agree the glory goes to God!
Trey,
I am a day behind…I usually read Terri’s blog more frequently, but I failed to read it this week until today and followed the link to your blog. I am always so touched by her stories about the people at the dump.
I will put a a $500 check in the mail tomorrow.
Becky R.
Trey, Just wanted you to know one of our elders gave me $50.00 for this effort.
I have just been amazed at how God has worked in this.
Thanks for doing this!!
Trey – tonight in our youth group I shared with them the story of the “Dump People.” Our youth were moved to go out for the next week and collect money. Next week I will give you the total and money. Thanks for giving us this amazing example to share with others!! You’re a blessing!!
Thank you Trey and everybody that is praying, giving, and is sharing the story of life at the dump. Because of all of you, people will be fed and will be shown the love of Jesus. We are at the dump every Wednesday and if you are in Honduras, please join us. It will change the way you think about everything.
Dios te bendiga,
