Last year on May 5th we had the first ever, “Feed the Dump People” day. We were hoping to raise about $2500 to feed the hungry people of the Tegucigalpa dump in Honduras. I greatly underestimated God that day. We didn’t raise $2500, instead in one day we raised an incredible $12,000. That’s just another sign that God obviously wants hungry people fed. Due to that contribution this past year they’ve been able to serve hot food at the dump instead of sandwiches. I still love to go back and read these comments when people gave.
In two months, on May 5th, 2010 we’re going to have another, “Feed the Dump People” day. One of the things we’re going to try and do is have live feed from the dump that day, so you can see for yourselves the work that’s going on there. I hope you’ll consider helping by …
  • Praying about “Dump Day 2010.”
  • Pushing it on your blog, website or at your church, work, school or bible class.
  • By making a donation.
Here are two letters I received this month. One is from Josh, a 5th grade boy and the other from Jacob a 3rd grade boy. Both letters included a $10 bill from each boy’s monthly allowance. I was touched.

Thanks for your continued support of the Honduras project.

I'll try to start blogging about it soon. Looking forward to trying to make the trip down with everyone in December.

Any word on how they're developing this ministry beyond providing food? I know there's a lot of good work going on down there, so I'm interested to see what they do with this project.

Adam – I hope it works out for you in December. And, I think you like the things that are being planned at the dump in the way of helping them change their lives. Much is in the planning stages.

Hey, how can I help? Can I send you a check or something?

  6. TREY MORGAN says:

Anonymous … You can tell everyone you know about it and then on May 5th make a donation by sending a check or using the paypal button on the side of my blog. I'll give you all the details on how, where and who to do a donation on May 5th. Thanks.

Ok Trey – in an answer to Adam, amazing things are beginning. Tomorrow at 11:00 AM – I have a meeting with the mayor of Tegucigalpa and his wife. Remember Lucrecia – she was there on Jesus Banquet day. I am going to seek their support in a way that has the potential of really blessing the people of the dump – stay tuned on that. We also have two Honduran ministers that have been going to the dump with us. One is from Ojojona and the other is the minister of a church inside the men's national prison. Both are excited about the potential of making disciples at the dump. As you and I discussed, we are trying to work out details that will make it possible to do a live webcast from the dump in conjunction with the fund-raiser. Tomorrow is feeding day so, as soon as I finish my meeting with the mayor and his wife, we will be blessed to go and feed the people we are talking about. Blessed to be your brother! Marc

I'll be praying about the meeting, Marc.

We can't wait to go back. We are planning on December for sure and maybe one other trip this year.

We will be praying for the upcoming fund raiser and most especially for God to open doors for the people at the dump.

  11. Mrs. Jenschke's 3rd Grade says:

My students have been collecting throughout the year. Even though our "fund" does not have a lot, the kids are so proud when they bring a quarter or a dime. Renews my heart each time they come in bouncing with excitement from their donation!

Thanks for all you do! See you in May!

Sounds like a great ministry. Do you work with other ministries there, such as Amor, Fey y Esperanza? I would like to hear of peoples experiences in the dump and in Tegucigalpa. I am writing a Christian fiction novel about a young man on a mission there.
