My friend Brian said today is commercial day. Thought I’d list my favorite. It is by far, the most manly commercial ever. Then below are two more you can watch if you’re REALLY bored today.

Link to Commercial #2 <------ Has all the elements of the perfect commercial.

Link to Commercial #3 <------ Can you figure out what I like about this one?

  1. Brian Nicklaus says:

yeah, and all those men have high cholesterol like me… :)

I did not know that was Hootie. Is that true? yikes

I actually had all three playing at once in diff tabs. interesting mix

  2. That Girl says:

The NASCAR is my favorite of those… I hadn’t seen it before.

  3. Trey Morgan says:

Brian … the Hootie song gets stuck in my head. And as a Dallas Cowboy’s fan, you can’t go wrong with DC cheerleaders.

That Girl – Welcome … glad you stopped by. NASCAR… you can’t go wrong with that one.

I haven’t seen a bad BK commercial yet!

  4. The Preacher's Household: says:

There were three or four commercials with Hootie that you could have chosen from. Did you accidentally choose the wrong one? I wondered if the third link would be Paris. (I had never seen the Hootie one and the Paris I have only seen on the news.) I like BK but will skip the commercials. The caboose was a bit much.

The redeeming commercial was the Nascar one. It was a good one. Very funny. Do they run these on t.v.? I have never seen the hootie or the nascar.

My question for you on #2 is do you like Hootie or bootie? I do remember seeing this one, and as a woman, I was a little offended by “A train of ladies coming with a nice caboose.” and the scantly clad. I was a little afraid to let Josh watch it.
Isn’t there a BK commercial (or is it Nike) that has “This is a man’s world….but it belongs to a woman.”?
I have lost my posting buttons so I can’t upload. I will accept suggestions for help! I like the commercial of Bob that is in debt up to his eyeballs, all of the old waasupp, and who can beat the old lady saying “Where’s the beef?”? I know they are even more scantly clad but being 6 ft. and 170lb I appreciate the new Dove compaign.

p.s. I am not completly against t.v. but in our conversation about getting rid of cable you are helping me and not so much Kathy.

  5. Trey Morgan says:

Kathy … you’re just like my wife. She catches all the things I don’t. As for #2 … it’s Hootie not booty. I actually didn’t catch the “caboose” part till you mentioned it. LOL. You won’t believe it, but not to long ago I told about a dozen people a joke that I didn’t quite understand. My wife said, “You know that’s a dirty joke, don’t you?” I told her she was crazy in the head and there was nothing dirty about the joke. Infact, I teased her about having a “dirty mind.” Later I found out it was actually a dirty joke and she was (once again) right. Then I had to catch a few people and apologize for telling them a dirty joke. Funny story….

  6. Neva says:

Trey, I do the same thing all the time–laugh at something or use the wrong word and Ned, so kindly takes me aside and says, “you know you’re cussing don’t you”

As far as BK commercials. Am I the only one who thinks that big headed king is just scary?

  7. The Preacher's Household: says:

The one where the guy wakes up in bed with ‘the king’ seems kinda scary. I think the guy is scared.

I also uses words when I don’t quite know their meaning. James has told me later about the mistake.

any thoughts on getting rid of the cable?

  8. lisa says:

I think y’all need to quit using words & jokes that you don’t quite get!! HA! Can’t believe a preacher is talking about the DC cheerleaders & booty & cabooses (or is it cabeese?)!

Okay, now, I need to quit procrastinating & get the bulletin done. Hope you’re all having a good weekend! It was fun to stop in & “see” so many friends. :)

  9. Tim Archer says:

‘Fess up Trey. How much did Burger King pay for the product placement?

  10. Trey Morgan says:

Tim – Free Whoppers for a lifetime (I wish).

Neva & Lisa – I like the BK commercials with the guy in the mask. Especially the ones where he plays football. The boys and I have played those over and over a dozen times.

James – As for cable? The Morgan family has had times where we’ve “fasted” from TV. We’ve turned off the whole thing for a while. The first couple of days were hard, but after that it was pretty easy. I’m really a believer in the best way to turn off the tv or cable is with the off/on switch.

We actually have some great “family time” sitting around the tv watching a movie or weekly television show. Lea and I love spending some time together each week watching certain shows we both like. It give us time together, things to talk about and something in common.

So not all of television is bad. You just have to know what to turn off and what’s age appropriate. Some shows that are approprate for me and the two old boys are not approprate for the younger boys. We just try and follow a few rules.

Then there are a few things that when they come on we simply get up and turn off the television. Some shows are not allowed in the Morgan house.

    Hope all this helps.

  11. Neva says:

So Trey, Did you not notice that the BK’s head is five times the size of his body? You don’t think that makes him a wee bit scary? And that fake frozen smile? Too creepy for me—I agree with you on the cable thing though. Ned and I often sit together (even on the same couch, close together) and watch our favorite shows. Nothing like a little Jack Bauer to say I love you!! :)

  12. Trey Morgan says:

24… ya know I’ve never seen the show. But people seem to really love it. I may have to check it out and see what everyone is talking about. It just hasn’t been one of our regularly watched shows….

  13. The Preacher's Household: says:

Kathy and I have sat and watched 24 and a variety of other action shows. She doesn’t always seem to enjoy them. The bonding can be good. We have also watched what some would call chick stuff. I have mostly thought of it in terms of time together. There are some of the action scenes we have quick watching becasue they were negative to Kathy. I don’t mean to say all t.v. is bad (just most, ha, ha).

There are a number of good shows it just seems too much negative is coming in some days. There are a couple of issues I see in the conversation. One is being a good steward of God’s money. We could be doing other things with the money, instead of bringing some possible questionable stuff in. The other word is holiness. I struggle with how much do we ignore either on purpose or by just staying oblivious. Do we ignore the language and adult content for the sake of entertainment? How many movies would my parents have watched 30 years ago. I was shocked at a movie Kathy and I watched a few years ago at my parents house.

One of the things I enjoy most on t.v. is the home repair shows. Kathy watches some of these with me but I don’t think she has ever sat down for ‘This Old House’. She does love ‘Home Improvement’ though “eun”! “ar, ar, ar”!

  14. The Preacher's Household: says:

I would love a Tim Allen collection – he’s my favorite and I can’t wait to see Wild Hogs. We cut the tv off after Wheel of Fortune and the only shows the kids can watch after 7 are Dancing with the Stars (they love it) Funniest Home videos, Extreme Home Makeover, and Deal or No Deal. I wish the shows that are targeted to families would limit which commercials they allowed. For instance EHM always has Desperate Housewives ads which are horrible.
As for action shows, does anyone watch The Unit? It may not be totally accurate but it reminds me that people are endangering themselves to keep me safe. The family angle helps me to keep the soldiers real as husbands and dads.
I think their is a lot to be learned from tv shows.
Maybe you could do a list of favorite shows.

  15. Bob Bliss says:

    Chick food! I love it.

Tim and Trey, I was thinking of getting a sponsor for my pulpit. The Orlando Magic play in the Amway Arena. So I was thinking of the Lowes Mt. Dora Pulpit. What do you think? I could do endorsements for Lowes at lectureships and area wide singings. I could become independent of the church as far as salary is concerned. Maybe it will become a trend.

  16. Trey Morgan says:

Bob…. I like the idea. But I’m thinking the “Welches Grape Juice” pulpit or the Saltine’s Lectureship. But Lowes is good too. HA. I love the idea.

  17. Bob Bliss says:

I choose Lowes because we want something “manly” to attract more men.
