UPDATE at 6:07 p.m. CST – Bread For A Hungry World has offered to match up to $25,000 is we reach $25,000. We’re currently at $19,000. Let’s keep giving!!!
Welcome to Dump Day 2010
I’m excited about today, because today we’re going to put others needs above our own. Today we’re going to do one of the simplest, most Jesus-like things we could EVER do … we’re going to feed the hungry.
While the average American family spends about $341.98 on food per week. Here’s what a week’s worth of food looks like.
Sadly, the people who live at the Teguciglapa dump eat what they can find in the trash. To learn more about the Tegucigalpa, Honduras dump, click here. Warning Graphic video.
Thankfully, Marc & Terri Tendall and other missionaries are willing to help feed the Dump People. We just need to raise the funds. That’s what today is all about. The funds we raise will go directly to help those in the dump. Your funds provide food for the hungry and milk for many of the babies. Please feel free to donate any amount.
Today Marc & Terri Tindall, Rickey Husband, my son Parker and others will be at the dump to pass out food. To celebrate this day “Dump Day,” Marc has added a piece of fried chicken to their food today. Generally the only fried chicken the dump people get to eat, is some that has already been eaten off of and discarded in the trash. So, while they get to eat today, we’ll raise some money so they can continue to be fed. And for those of us fasting today, I think it’s great that the dump people will eat better than we will.

I wish I would have known about this before. I visited the Teguc dump about 3 weeks ago, and I greatly appreciate any and every one of you who are helping them. It is the worst place I have ever seen and my heart breaks that so many are willing to help them out. Thanks for helping them!
Trey,
My son, Colby (10 years old), just brought me $50 to donate!! This was some of his birthday money…I was showing him your blog and explaining all of this to him and he said, "Mama, I'll be right back." Well you know the rest…words cannot explain it!! He is always so concerned about these children and I keep telling him maybe in 2 or 3 years I'll take him with me to Honduras!!
Tami
I have not been to the dump but I have been to Teguc and other parts of Honduras. I have always had a heart for these people since my first mission trip there. $30 via paypal.
Trey,
I admire the way you have been able to use your blog, Facebook, and Twitter to do so much good in the name of Christ for those who have so little. You have not wasted the internet; you have used it for good. Keep it up! It's inspiring others!
