This past Saturday I celebrated my 44th birthday. (Oh, and thank you for the “happy birthdays” that you sent my way on Facebook and Twitter). We’ve never had big celebrations when it comes to birthdays. Our normal birthday routine consists of a couple of presents, a cake and your choice of where you want to eat.
Since we were in Amarillo on my birthday, I chose to eat at the Coyote Bluff cafe. If you are a fan of the television show “Man vs Food” that comes on the Travel Channel, you may have seen the show where Adam eats at the Coyote Bluff cafe (here’s the clip). I chose the “Burger from Hell” and it WAS smoking hot and very good. This spicy burger comes loaded with jalapenos, habanero sauce and Tabasco. We also had the cheese fries, which is 2 pounds of fries topped with 1 pound of cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese and green chilies. I’m usually a healthy eater, but boy did I splurge on this meal.
It was also a day of desserts. My dad made me an apple pie, my favorite. My friend Becky made me banana pudding, my other favorite. And then about dark, a friend showed up with the biggest apple pie I’ve ever seen. They were all amazing. I will be running extra miles this week.
Here are a few pictures…
Coyote Bluff may look rough on the outside, but it was full of customers on the inside, and I don’t know how many people they turned away when they closed for their afternoon break.
Three pounds of fries, cheese and green chilies.
Burgers are the specialty, and the Burger from Hell is one of the biggest sellers.
The “Burger from Hell” had my lips burning.

The family (minus Taylor).
The Menu.
The amazing, gigantic and delicious apple pie.

did you repent after eating "the burger from Hell" and did that repentance take place in a restroom?
This is the kind of post that really touches my soul. I'd eat all of that in a heartbeat. Coyote Bluff looks like a dive I'd love to try. Several times. Happy belated Birthday Trey.

Brian – Exactly, I wonder if I've felts the last of this burger.
Todd – Would love to buy you one someday.
I would never have a burger like that or even the fries. They would probably finish me off. OHHHHH! gmj
Happy Belated birthday!! Tallie and I consider Coyote Bluff one of our favorites. We only indulge every once in a while. We love that place. Great message yesterday. I am pleased I was obedient yesterday to the Lord's pull on my heart to stop for Church. I think that message was just for me. Thanks. MM in Amarillo
I knew I liked you. Apple pie's my favorite dessert, too!
my mouth says yummmy…
My stomach says…please don't!!!
Happy belated, Brother!
You talking about Coyote Bluff makes me miss home, but I'm sure glad I didn't have to go through the aftermath of that burger! Like Shrek says, "Better in than out, I always say."
My wife would love that burger, only she would call it the "burger from heck" because she can't bring herself to use anything that even comes close to sounding like profanity. One of the many differences between the two of us.
I believe I could take the burger, but not the fries. Start running!
I didn't see any costumers in the place, but there were quite a few customers.
Cool place to eat. Pretty much any place that has menu items written on a chalkboard goes up a notch or two in my book. I don't know how you that burger though. It would have killed me.
I would love to take on the "Burger from Hell." It all looked good. I bet you didn't go running for a couple of days.
I need me one of those.
The prices seemed awfully reasonable…or is my perspective skewed by prices here in the northeast?
one of my favorite places to eat!!
