MEN AND SEX

I’ve heard the quote that on average men think about sex every 7 seconds, I personally think that those numbers might be a little on the conservative side God is the creator of sex, and He made it to be GOOD (can I get an “Amen” here guys?!) in the confines of marriage. Yet, due [...]

CHEERLEADING IN MARRIAGE

I know a lady that never has anything nice to say about anybody. She is by far the most negative person I’ve ever met, and occasionally she has the audacity to say, “I don’t know why my husband doesn’t want to hang around the house with me more often.” Wow, do I ever have to [...]

INTIMACY IN MARRIAGE THOUGH PRAYER

When you think of intimacy in marriage, most people automatically think of sex. Intimacy in your marriage does involves sexual fulfillment, but intimacy is SO much more than just having good sex. Intimacy is achieved when a husband and wife can share their thoughts, opinions, and feelings with one another to the point that they [...]

HOW TO TURN OFF A MAN & HOW TO TURN ON A WOMAN

Some of the best blogs available in the blog-world are “women’s blogs.” I enjoy reading what the women have to say. Recently I’ve discovered Amanda Sanders’ blog and it has become one of my daily “must reads.” Since marriage and family posts are of particular interests to me, there were two of Amanda’s posts that [...]

ROMANCE IN MARRIAGE

I laughed so hard that I had to cut out the “Dear Abby” article. It was a letter from a wife about her husband that read, “My husband has no clue how to be romantic. So I wasn’t surprised the other day when the ‘little present’ he got me for Valentine’s Day was a mood-ring. [...]

WHEN YOUR SPOUSE IS SICK…

Would you say this is the way things progress over time when the wife gets sick … Year One of Marriage the Husband Says: “Sugar dumpling, I’m worried about you baby girl. You’ve got a sniffle. I’ll take you to the doctor right away.” Year Two of Marriage the Husband Says: “Listen darling I don’t [...]

THE MARRIAGE CHALLENGE

I have been challenged today by a new study and I’m committing today to be a 5 to 1 husband! Statistics on marriage scare me, but the Studer Group has released a new study on “Compliment to Criticism” ratio. They’ve told us from their studies that people in general need 3 compliments given for every [...]

SEXUAL NEEDS IN MARRIAGE

As she sat in my office she was clearly angry and she had a right to be. Her husband had crossed the line. She’d caught him “sneaking a lustful peek” at another woman and she didn’t like it one bit. “What do I do?” she asked, “He’s supposed to be a Christian husband.” She put [...]

7 THINGS HUSBANDS NEED FROM THEIR WIVES

Last week I gave you part one of my bible class notes on husbands and wives. It was about “What Wives need from their Husbands.” Here’s part two: “What husbands need from their wives…” HUSBANDS NEED LOTS OF ADMIRATION. Husbands love it when their wives are their biggest fan. Admiration is one of the easiest [...]

Not long ago I told you that I’m doing lessons in both class and in worship on the family. Two of the bible class lessons I just finished were: “7 Things Wives Need from their Husbands,” and “7 Things Husbands Need from their Wives.” My favorite part of the class has been watching the reactions [...]

GOD HATES DIVORCE BUT …

Anytime I preach, teach or write (like yesterday) about marriage, it always hurts my heart to think of those who have gone through a divorce sitting there listening to the sermon or reading a post about marriage. I sometimes wish I would pick a different topic than marriage just because I don’t want divorced people [...]

10 MYTHS ABOUT MARRIAGE

Growing up I remember shows like The Walton’s, Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, Happy Days, Bewitched, I Love Lucy and others. Most of these shows showed us a traditional family of mom, dad, and kids. They didn’t seem to have any real problems because there are no story lines about prior marriages, step-children, [...]

A "BEAN COUNTING" MARRIAGE

At least once a day I look at the referrals on my stat-tracker to see where the traffic to my blog is coming from. Over 100 of my referrals every day are from Google where someone has searched, “How to keep my wife happy,” or “How to have a happy marriage.” I’m not sure why [...]

EMOTIONAL AFFAIRS

Nine out of ten affairs begin with an emotional attraction. It usually happens when a need that a spouse is not meeting begins to be met by another person of the opposite sex. I once read somewhere that it may be far easier to have an emotional affair than you may realize. When you find [...]

LIFE’S SHORT. GET A DIVORCE

What’s Wrong with this Picture? You’ve probably read the story behind the billboard (pictured above) in Chicago that says, “Life is Short. Get a divorce.” It wasn’t so much about the partially clothed man and woman on the law firm’s ad. It was the phrase “Life is short. Get a divorce,” that drew scores of [...]

GOOD COMMUNICATION IN MARRIAGE

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard women say, “My husband just can’t communicate.” I don’t know how many times I’ve heard men say, “I just can’t get a straight answer from my wife.” There is no arguing that men and women communicate differently. God wired-up men and women very differently. While women focus [...]

My wedding ring is a simple gold band that hasn’t been off my finger in many, many years. The only time I remember it coming off in the past 10 years is when it broke in half and I had to have it fixed. When you look at it closely, you won’t see any diamonds [...]

STUPID THINGS TO SAY TO YOUR WIFE

I could use a little laugh today. Thought we’d have a little fun. Despite Solomon saying, “A wise man’s heart guides his mouth,” husbands still have a way of saying things they shouldn’t.
