Augment Project (Extreme Home Makeover) Coming to Completion

After 4 months of work we’re winding down our Augment Project (Extreme Home Makeover). If you haven’t been keeping up with the project, you can read more about it here, here and here. This Sunday we’ll have a ribbon cutting, an open house and turn the keys over to Vicki (the lady chosen to receive the home). It’s been a great community project. Over 300 difference people have helped take a condemned eye-sore and make it a nice home for a special person. If you’re in the area, I’d like to invite you out to the ribbon cutting this Sunday at 2 p.m.  Rumor has it that some TV news media out of Amarillo are planning on being here too.

There are a few little outside projects that need to be finished (driveway and carport), but the inside is done. A big thanks to all those who helped on this.

  2. Excellent community project. Well done.

  3. Steve Gauntt says:

I did absolutely nothing other than walk through the house with you…just wondering if I could cut the ribbon. :)
Honestly I just wanted to tell all of the Augmenters (thanks for the word, Greg) that you have inspired numerous people that you will never know about. Thank you for your vision, your dedication/commitment, your hard work, your cooperation, your example, your sacrifice, and your love. You didn’t do it for others to see, you just did what God called you to do.
    Thank you.

Steve … that made me laugh. I’m not sure why my 15 year old son wanted to cut the ribbon … but he did. Thanks for spending the day with me last Friday.

This is so awesome! (The house AND the gesture!)

  5. NB says:

Wow, it looks beautiful! It takes a dedicated community to take on a project of this scale. It’s exciting to see the result of an entire community coming together and working hard to help an individual. Excellent teamwork, Childress!

  6. Maggie Beth says:

I kinda like the “before” picture better………

(That was so mean – but I could not resist!)

Etremely impressive!! – I have worked on several Habitat builds – I would assume it is almost ‘harder’ to rebuild a standing house than to build from the ground up.

Vicki is about to be blessed with a very nice house to come to every night – and I pray that God will pour His blessings over it and make it not only a home but a place of refuge and peace……

Since the the ribbon-cutting is a little further than a hop, skip and a jump I will say my prayer here:

May God richly bless and multiple EVERY moment of service and sacrifice given on this house. I pray that this house will be a home standing as a physical testimony of God’s blessings and His provisions….but above all I pray that God will use this house as a beacon to say to all who will listen, “See what my people can accomplish when they place their faith in me and allow me to move…….”

CONGRATULATIONS! Vicki!! & WELL-DONE, WELL-DONE!!! To every person who touched this home……..

    There in spirit ~ Maggie B. ~

  7. Kim Robinson says:

What a beautiful home! Your group did an outstanding job and I know Vicki is so thankful to have this new home to move into. Can’t wait to see pictures of the ribbon cutting and open house.

  8. Patrick says:

I could not have expressed it better than Maggi Beth… “Etremely impressive!” AWE-some job and wish more than anything to be there for the ribbon cutting! This has truly been an inspiring story. Thanks again and again… “For loving on Jesus!”
