Wow, the book giveaway was fun. I must do it again soon. I hope I turned a few of you on to reading The Shack. Don’t forget, if you didn’t win it, you can order it from here or here.

When I first started thinking of the winning number to pick, I immediately thought of 24 and 48, my two favorite NASCAR drivers numbers. But I knew a few of you would know that (Mr. Rickey & Matt) so I had to come up with another number. I chose the one that I have been talking about recently due to Lea and I celebrating an upcoming anniversary. In two weeks we celebrate our 20th, so I chose the number 20 and the winner is… Dina who signed in under the name “Googlersparents.” Email me here with your address and I’ll get it shipped.

I must say thanks to John Dobbs for twisting my arm to read the book. Also Shouldisay’s comments were hilarious: “hey, saw you advertising this on your facebook stat. Who’d have thought you could afford to send me a book after all those shoes….hee hee.”

Next up on my reading list is either, “Same Kind Of Different As Me,” or “A New Kind Of Christian.”

You picked #20 because you’re a closet Tony fan and you know it!!!

Good idea to read a book and then give it away. I got a lady at our mortuary “hooked” on Swindoll and gave her a case of Swindoll and Lucado books that I’d read … just no longer have a place to keep them nor a need to keep them. These days I read very few “preacher’s” books and am more into some of the current books / stories. I just ordered the book about the lone SEAL survivor in that firefight in Afghanistan to take on our Alaskan cruise. Also ordered a book by a special forces soldier on the making of a special forces soldier. Just wanted a little insight into what my older brother and my brother-in-law went through to become special forces men in VietNam.

Bro – any kind of consolation prize for picking “part” (as in the #2 from the #20) of the answer?

If you liked The Shack I think you’d really like Velvet Elvis, Blue Like Jazz, or Organic Church. I just got through reading Blue Like Jazz for the second time. And my all-time favorite would have to be Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I’d like to know about “A New Kind of Christian” – because I’ve heard good things but also that it’s a little off the deep end on some things. Happy reading, whatever you decide to read next.

I found you through Odgie's blog.

If you are going to read McLaren, it is essential that you read "Why We're Not Emergent (By Two Guys Who Should Be)" for a review of where the emergent church is heading with McLaren and others at the helm. It may not be such a great destination…

Nice blog. Thanks for letting me butt-in!

I read “Same Kind of Different As Me” a few months ago. It’s a good book.

Must agree with above comment about “Blue Like Jazz!” So good and will make you think, think, think! I have been really wanting to read “Same Kind of Different as Me” so if you do, I’d like a review, please and thank you! 😉

Oh..and are you seriously kidding me? There is NO way I could keep up with anyone who was running this morning, but thanks for missing me! LOL!

I thought about # 20 and the reason why then decided on # 18 and you know the reason why. I’m pouting, I really wanted to win. gmj

Umm…Trey.. I think you meant to say 72. Because you want to be optimistic and celebrate 72 years of marriage in the future.. right??

I am almost finished with Eugene Peterson’s, The Jesus Way: a conversation on the way that Jesus is the way. It is one of the best reads of its kind.

Am about to begin another that is a part of that series called Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places: a conversation in spiritual theology. “Spiritual theology” is his phrase for living the Jesus way.

Hmmmm, how about ScreamFree by Hal Runkel? This book is suppose to teach you how NOT to scream at your kids, BTW I am a mom of 2 boys, 7/11, my little own convinence store here =). Is there such a concept as a screamfree parenting .I guess I'll have to order the book and see. This months Christian Chronicle publication had an ad on it, so I might just add it to my pile of unread & screaming to be read books!!! God Bless, I enjoy reading your bloggies, it is nice to have a a few good laughs before my day begins.
