• I was informed today that there are 50 (mostly teenagers) from the Childress church going to Mexico City this July. Two years ago when we went, we took 30. I am SO looking forward to that week! I LOVE hanging with our youth group! And I love serving people in Mexico.
  • It’s been a grieving week at the Morgan house this week. Our cat “Dummy-Cat” (yes, that’s her name and no, I’m not making that up), had 2 kittens a few weeks ago. We gave the two kittens away Thursday to a good home. Cooper hasn’t taken the change very well. He wants the two kittens back. In the meantime, Dummy-Cat has been fixed (or broken) so the kitten thing won’t happen again.
  • I didn’t get a date night with Lea this week :( It has been our desire that when we became parents, not to cease being husband and wife. BUT…I know this will only happen if we are intentional!!! One day the four boys will leave (hopefully), and I want Lea and I to be madly in love. It will not happen if we ignore one another for the next 18 years!!!
  • God really rocked my world this week when I was studying the story of King Saul (1 Samuel 15). God gave him specific instructions on a job He wanted done. Saul did it 95% right. God made sure Saul knew that partial obedience was not good enough. It’s pretty amazing that God said, “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” God wants my obedience more than He wants my singing, giving, communion, church attendance, etc. Wow!
  • We’re going to be back in the auditorium for worship this Sunday for the first time in 2 months. Two months ago we had a water valve break in the balcony of the building and it flooded the balcony, auditorium and basement. I’m ready to have my video system and power point back. Yea!
  • his Sunday we’ll be focusing on our graduating seniors. I’ll be encouraging them in the lesson, and we’ll honor them with a bible and other special recognition. I love what the elders do here in Childress. They will meet Sunday with each graduating senior and tell them how proud they are of them. They will remind them that they expect them to continue to be faithful when they go to college, and they’ll ask them where they plan to attend church when the get to college. They tell the graduating senior that they plan to write a “letter of recommendation” about the graduate to the church where they are planning on attending so the church there will be expecting them. This has worked wonders. Cool elders, huh?

That’s not Cooper, right? Don’t you think it’s misleading to put a picture of another kid on your post about your family? Just wondering.

It sounds like you are having a great week. And you have even more great things to look forward to in the near future. I love anticipation!! :o)

Funny, funny comic. I absolutely want to blog about anything and everything … not that I expect to be before the firing squad anytime soon, though.

  2. Monalea says:

Trey, glad to know you had a good week. We can always find several dozen kittens around for Cooper. Don’t want my Nephew to be sad.

Lisa, that is Cooper. At least that is what Trey told me 5 1/2 years ago.

  3. TREY MORGAN says:

Lisa … Monalea’s right …that’s the “Coop Man”

Brandon … I’m not sure what you’re looking for, but I’ll email you and see if I can find out.

    Monalea … One Dummy-cat is enough. :)

How is that pronounced? Is it Duhmay or dumbie or just plain dummmm?

Thank you for a new post. It is exciting getting ready for mission trips and going. Kathy wants to sneak in a bag. It is also great to hear what your elders are doing.

a side note to Brandon; have you looked into Mozilla and not using Word in any contact with blogging? It worked for us.

all of my daugter’s cats were “tat stupid cat” to me…..at one time we had about 16 kittens! arghh

Love the blogger cartoon. Yep, it is always on our mind.

I am impressed kathy still has a heart for foreign missions after all her crazy experiences. That is a great faith.

are you telling me that you don’t believe in the “five acts” of worship?? I am turning your name into the heretic detectors so they can write an article about you and your church. 😉

  9. TREY MORGAN says:

Okay … let me catch up here.

James the cats name IS “Dummy” cat. Just like it sounds.

Kathy – we still have about 3 seats left on the bus! You won’t need to “sneak” on!

Donna – 16 “Dummy” kittens? Sheesh.

Brian … you always keep us on our toes. As for the 5 acts of worship … hum? I think there’s 15 actually. 😉

Trey I stopped by and was very pleased by what you said with dating your beautiful lady. Congatulations for being the type of man I pray my son grows to be.

    Dear Resident,
Thanks for all you do. You are my 2nd favorite blogger, next to your sister. I still believe everything she says about you.

After two months I’d definately be having Powerpoint withdrawal.

I admire you for commiting to date your wife. I haven’t been on a date with mine in over two months. Gearing up for a major move has deluded us into thinking that work is all we have time for. But it’s making us very dull. Thanks for the reminder of what’s important. There wil always be too much work.

BTW, Where does a couple go on a date in Childress, Texas?

  14. TREY MORGAN says:

My powerpoint didn’t work today. Two months without it and I was so pumped to get to use it … and it didn’t work. Shoot.

Childress is the dating center of the world. :) We have 6 restaurants and an old movie theater.

Anytime we can leave the boys and just have some “alone” time at a restaurant it’s a date. Every now and then we catch a movie, but just getting out by ourselves is awesome.

  15. TREY MORGAN says:

PS – Wade, been thinking about you and your move. Hope things are going well.

David – 2nd favorite blogger? I’m just thankful I’m on your list!

  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
  • Chin up Childress Bobcats. We couldn't be prouder. Great fight tonight.
