• I’ve been doing sermons all month on marriage. I’ve been trying to upload my lessons to my podcast page but the podcast page has been down. FINALLY, it started working again and “this” is where you’ll find my last two lessons on “7 Things Wives want from their Husbands,” and “7 Things Husbands want from their Wives.” I may blog on these things later.

  • Lea’s birthday is next Tuesday. I haven’t exactly figured out what I’m going to do for it, but I know I’m going to have to include some of “this” and “this.” She loves those things :)
  • You won’t believe what they did at the dump yesterday in Honduras. It was a first for “this” and it’s all because of your giving.
  • In less than two weeks, Taylor is leaving for Miami to begin his mission term there. He’ll be there for the next 12-16 months in order to fulfill his AIM requirements. He and I will be driving to Miami and after a few days there, I’ll fly home. “This” is the route we’ll be driving. I’m hoping “this” man will let me stay at his house the first night. By the way, do you know any places, people or things along the way we need to stop and see?
  • If you’re a sports fan, “this” video about church will make you laugh. Talk about funny stuff.
  • A while back I posted a link to “Why Men Cheat,” over at Red Hot Mommas. This past week she followed up that post with “this” one, “Why Women Cheat.”
  • The following video made me say “Wow … I don’t want to do that!” I do not want to preach, live and talk one thing and then do the opposite. Check it out.

How exciting about the dump people. And your podcasts are in my reader ready to listen to :)

  2. Peter P says:

    Wow, great list.

Thanks for linking to the dump update. I hadn’t thought that things would move on this quickly!

Have you seen Ron Edmondson’s list of what husbands and wives want from each other? http://www.ronedmondson.com/2008/07/6-top-needs-of-a-husband.html

We drive the Jackosn MS to Pensacola FL section of your trip every year on our way to our vacation spot. When in Hattiesburg MS and/or Moblie AL, look for a Guthries Chicken. http://www.guthrieschicken.com/ It’ll be the best chicken fingers you will ever eat. Parent company for Abners and Zaxby’s and much much better than both.

There is an armed forces museum at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, just south of the 98/49 junction on 49. I’ve not been, but a friend with older kids stopped last year and thought it was fun. http://www.armedforcesmuseum.us/Pages/index.aspx

There is an old Battleship (the USS Alabama) in Mobile bay that is cool. They also have an aircraft collection that I’ve not seen but heard is cool. http://www.ussalabama.com/

A friend from Vicksburg says you should plan a lunch at this place: http://www.walnuthillsms.net/. Traditional southern food served family style. Although, you might have to run behind the truck all the way to Jackson to work it off.

If Lea were going with you, I would tell you to stop at the watermelon patch shoe store on 49 just north of Hattiesburg. http://www.thewatermelonpatch.net/
Lots of women’s shoes and a decent selection for men.

There are several fruit stands along the way. I’d suggest stopping at a couple of them if you have time. There are some big ones on 98 as you get enter Florida.

The trip from Hattiesburg to Mobile can get frustrating. Lots of small towns and redlights. One section just before Alabama is two lanes. Also lots of people headed to Florida vacations so it could get congested if you are traveling on a weekend. It’s great Americana though, so relax and take it in.

And last but not least, Florida has cool rest stops (at least the ones around pensicola are). When leaving one make sure and stop at the free ‘car wash’. It’s a giant spigot about 10-11′ tall that dumps water on your windshield/car. I’m a geek so I loved it.

ps. I’ve bnever done the us95 trip down the east coast of FL, but I bet it’s going to be pretty. Watch out for Gators. OH, and try some fried alligator. Good stuff.

  6. Kristina Shelley says:

Koby and I have moved to Ellenton, Florida, we are right off the interstate 75, if you have time we would love to meet for lunch/dinner.

  7. TREY MORGAN says:

Kristina … let me do some checking on that … sounds like fun :)

  8. Gabrielle Eden says:

that video describes my childhood exactly, only my dad was the pastor of the church every Sunday morning to top it off!

  9. Keith Brenton says:

Trey, your blog’s coverage of the dump people helped us make a wise decision to run an article by Sherry Hubright titled From the Garden to the Dump, and she brought with her the excellent photo gallery of Mark Sisco. Thanks for keeping us informed about this ministry!

  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
  • Chin up Childress Bobcats. We couldn't be prouder. Great fight tonight.
