5 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW

My sister, Monalea, “tagged me” asking me to reveal 5 things about myself. Okay, I’ll play along.

FIVE THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME:

  1. About 12 years ago I ballooned to an unhealthy 255 lbs. I decided I didn’t want to be the “biggest preacher” in the brotherhood, so I made a lifestyle change. I dropped 60 pounds and thankfully I haven’t ever gone back to my “big” self.

  2. I get teased for keeping my cars really, really clean. What can I say, I like clean cars. Besides, you know the saying, “Dirty car, dirty mind.” Okay, maybe that’s not a real saying.

  3. The hardest thing I’ve ever done physically is run a marathon. I did the 26.2 miles in 1998. At mile 24 I got dehydrated and started throwing up and wanted to die. I kept thinking to myself, “Trey (that’s what I call myself), if you just step out in front of that oncoming car, you can end it all and not hurt anymore.” At mile 25, there were two men who were trying to encourage me by saying, “You can do this. Don’t give up!” I think I threw up on their shoes, at least I hope so. At mile 26, I spotted my wife and kids at the finish line and finished strong. Although I’m glad now I did the marathon, and I still love doing half-marathons, I seriously doubt I’ll ever do another full marathon.

  4. When I was a kid I was force fed things like rice, veggies and stew. I vowed when I got older I’d never eat those things again. Now all three are some of my favorite foods.

  5. Because I’m 6’4” I have trouble finding clothes that fit. Most shirt’s sleeves are too short and most pants are not long enough. It makes me feel sorry for Parker, my 16 year old, who’s now pushing 6’6”.

I’ll tag Wade, Stephanie, CDJ, and Amy.

  2. Stephanie says:

  3. Greg says:

Is it just coincidence that you call yourself “Trey” and yet that’s your name???
I watched a marathon once and wanted to throw up. Thank you for not tagging me!

  4. Amy says:

Please do not tell Jason of your marathon experience!LOL! He is planning one in November. I love that Lea motivated you to the end! AWESOME!

I’ll take the tag…but it may take me a little while to come up with 5 things I haven’t already spilled on my blog!!

    See ya Sunday!

  5. Wade says:

    Trey,

(That’s what I call you, too! Crazy, huh?)

Congrats on the marathon! What an awesome accomplishment! I literally cried tears of joy as I watched my wife complete her marathon a few years ago. She was crying too but I think it had to do more with the blisters on her feet.

Thanks for the tag, by the way – I’ve been a little short on blog fodder lately!

  6. Alan Gable says:

Geez. 6’4. I guess even the preachers are bigger in Texas…

  7. Haley says:

My mom ran a marathon once, it was pouring rain, I think it was actually in 98 as well. My step-dad, Timbra and I would get out of the car and cheer her on and give her her goo and then we’d run back to the car and drive to the next point and do it all over again. She too has never gone back to the marathon, but is currently training to do a triathlon! That’s the closest I’ve ever come to a marathon! :)

  8. Lin says:

That’s really cool that you did the marathon. I don’t have it in me to do it, but I have great respect for those who can and do.

Ahh, you’re a shorty! My husband is 6’9. Thirteen inches taller than me! :) He’s my personal giant.

  9. TREY MORGAN says:

    lin … 6’9″? Holy Smokes!!!

  10. preacherman says:

  13. Jeanne M. says:

My husband is 6’4″ and has worn 17 1/2 Tall shirts almost as long as I have known him. He also wears size 13 shoes. My son is 6’6″ and for many years has worn 34×36 pants, but 16 1/2 Tall shirts. My son-in-law for many years wore 17 Tall shirts, but I think he has lost weight and may be down to 16 or 16 1/2 shirts. My daughter is 5’9″ and has always had trouble finding dresses long enough until women started wearing long skirts – yeah! I am the short one in the family at 5’4″, but have long arms and legs, short-waisted. For too many years, we have not been able to shop in places like Wal-Mart, or discount stores for bargains.

Congratulations, Trey, on losing so much weight and keeping it off. Running a marathon must be one of the hardest physical challenges there is so you should really be proud to have finished.
