103 Very Special Beanie Babies

I got a box in the mail this week that had exactly 103 beanie babies in it. It was a special box of beanie babies. They were the stuffed animals of a sweet 16 year old girl named Jackie. It was Jackie’s mom, Tammy who sent them to me. 13 years ago Tammy experienced the one nightmare that no parent ever wants to experience, her 16 year old daughter Jackie was killed in an auto accident. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain, the questions and the suffering that Tammy must have experienced.

It’s now been 13 years since Jackie’s death and for the past 13 years, Tammy hasn’t quite known what to do with her daughter’s collection of beanie babies.  Tammy said, “I didn’t want to just give them to Goodwill or put them in a yard sale.  I wanted them to go to a good cause. When I saw your post about needing beanie babies for children in Honduras, I knew this was where they needed to go.”

This week when I got the box of 103 beanie babies, Tammy also included a note that said, “I have prayed that these beanie babies find new homes and little ones to love them. May each child that touches one of these beanies be blessed and feel the love of God.”

I will be honored to hand the beanie babies to Honduran children later this month when I’m in Honduras. “Jackie was a great kid,” Tammy said, “I’m sure Jackie will be smiling when she looks down and sees the smiles on those little faces.”   I agreed.

Thank you Tammy :)

I didn’t count how many, but I just sent off a box of beanie babies to you. I shipped through the UPS store. The cashier said it should be to you tomorrow. She said they couldn’t ship to PO Boxes but would send it to the street address. When she put it in her system, she said it came up as a business. I told her it was probably your church. But I didn’t know. So, I just wanted you to know so you could be looking for the box. The tracking number is: 1ZW0F3990347892611

The story to the beanies is that a lady from my church “garage sales”. She knows how to make a deal. She was out at a garage sale and saw the box of beanies. She had just read your post that Sarah Stirman had shared on FB. So she asked the lady how much and told her why she wanted the beanies. The lady then gave the whole box, free of charge, to the lady from my church. Then Sarah connected me and the other lady because I had volunteered to mail them.

I hope that these children will feel God’s love and be blessed.
