10 Things I’ve Enjoyed About my Vacation

After a great week at the Red River Family Encampment, we’ve spent the rest of the week vacationing in the mountains of New Mexico.

Here are 10 things I’ve enjoyed about my vacation…

1. The cool 70 degree temperatures in the daytime and 40 degree temps at night. (I’m really disappointed that Childress has been having rally cool temps all week. Bragging about being in the mountains don’t mean much when it’s not 103 at home.) Ha.

2. Playing catch with the boys.

3. Fly-fishing with Parker.

4. Laying in the big back porch-swing, until I dozed off.

5. Eating things (ice cream, fried foods, candy) I don’t usually eat.

6. Playing a card game called dimes (or 31). Good thing my boys didn’t have any dimes, or they would be broke.

7. Teaching and meeting new (and old) friends at the Red River Family Encampment.

8. Afternoon mountain rain showers.

9. Spending time with Lea’s family.

10. Reading my bible for just me. Asking, “What’s this saying to me?” instead of, “How could I teach this text?”

As always, thanks for reading my blog. I’m honored that you’d take time to stop by. :)

So glad to hear the vacation was a good one. You’ve got me wondering when I can book myself and my family some time off.

Great list of ten. (We call the game “Popcorn” and the guy that introduced it to us played for nickels. We play for fun.)

  5. I’m so glad you and your family had a great vacation :} Just think, the mountain and fishing parts you could only have done in NM.
It’s been pretty rainy in the Dallas area. Definitely cooled things off around here lately. Its usually so hot and sweaty.
When do y’all get back to Childress. And when do y’all head off to Honduaras? God bless. Grace and Peace.

Zack, we had a great time, thanks. We’re pulling into town on Monday. Next week I fly to Miami to drive back to Texas with Taylor. Then it’s a week of VBS and the Honduras. Going to be a busy next few weeks. :) Blessings my friend.

Number Ten has been such a change for me after preaching / teaching for 30 years … it’s so different (and refreshingly so) to read the Bible without the ulterior motive of a sermon. Glad you had a good week.

Thanks, Greg. I knew most preachers\teachers would understand #10. It SO hard for me to get out of the “how can I teach this” mind-set. Blessing, my friend.

    Nice thoughts Trey.

Sounds like an awesome time!!! I love and miss the mountains..especially those afternoon rain storms (and the nap that should accompany it) 😉

I can relate with #10, too-glad you could soak in the Word!!
