10 Things I LOVE About Being a Minister

At the first of this week I shared with you, “10 Things that Frustrate me as a Minister.” I think it’s only fair that I also share with you this post … 10 Things I LOVE About Being a Minister…

  1. I love getting to be a part of people’s lives. What an honor it is to be at the biggest events in people’s lives … births, baptisms, weddings, funerals, etc.
  2. I love people … helping people, being around people and watching people grow spiritually.
  3. I’m the luckiest man ever, because I get to get up every Sunday and speak to people about Jesus.
  4. I love the church where I work. They are SO good to me.
  5. I love that I married a woman who excels at being a minister’s wife.
  6. I love getting to live my faith, marriage and life out-loud for the world to see.
  7. I love seeing worldly, hard people change and become more like Jesus.
  8. I love that I have people in my life that minister to me.  Friends that lift me up in prayer, encourage me and care about my needs.
  9. I love just being myself in ministry. There’s nothing about my title that should ever make me be portrayed as pious, perfect or mistake-free. I’m just a normal person.
  10. I love getting to help the very needy and overlooked. I love things like feeding hungry people and picking up a guy on the side of the road who needs a room for the night.

Glad you took my advice :)

I love the people here in China who I have the privilege of getting to share Jesus with.

I love my brothers and sisters at church, who even though we speak different languages-we serve the same God who has created us in His image and loves us, and hears our praise in every language!!

I love having the blessing of being able to walk with people on their faith journey towards a relationship with Jesus, and I pray my life is an example of His love.

I love the church family I have all over the world, and all of those who are willing to financially and spiritually support the work here.

Ministry/mission work is most definitely challenging…and an absolute blessing!! :)

Kat … you do a great job in your ministry. What a blessing you are in China.

And, you’re right, there’s nothing like church family.

My main ministry is being a wifey and mom, followed by writing. So a few things I like about those roles:

*Encouraging. Love to encourage people, especially if it’s through the written word.
*Cooking for hungry people, even though I can’t partake. I’m weird like that.
    *Being my hubby’s soulmate.

    Those are my top three.

  3. Sandi says:

I love your #5! Lea is awesome!! When you guys first came to Tulia, it took me a while to get to know her…but now, all I can say is….Trey, you are truly blessed!! I want to be a “Lea” to someone someday!! Lea is my hero!!

  4. Sylvia says:

I love that we have the chance to reach people anywhere and everywhere and that we can be the bridge for God to work in peoples lives, in their personal relationship with Jesus, in their marriage, and in their family. I love getting to know people, and I love being able to get them to see the value of themselves through Jesus. And I LOVE church potlucks.

  5. Lisa F. says:

I love seeing God do things that surprise me.

I love the seeing people really change.

I love being a part of the greatest adventure in history.

I love that the heroes of our faith were no different than we are.

I love that God doesn’t give up on me.

    I love making a difference.

I love being in the middle of the action.

I love having a real family.

    I love having a purpose.

    I love talking to God.

  6. Duane Scott says:

I love that I don’t have to know all the answers… that I have wise ministers and a God that cares to fill in all the blanks.

  7. I “was” number 7 and now I’m free from the bondage of sin. I praise my God!

  8. Scotty Ferris says:

You forgot to put you only have to work one day a week.

  • good list. Don't forget Nickelback, OJ, ISIS and beer-throwing Blue Jay fans.
  • He was pretty tough to listen to as well.
  • As crazy as it might sound, Chris Collinsworth just might be worse to listen to than the song Christmas Shoes.
  • Please remember that some Christmas music is incredibly offensive to people with grandmothers who actually were run over by reindeer.
  • Unfortunately, not a great night for "bobcats." :)
